Wait is over. Broadway just became excellent with Keanu Reeves debut and Alex Winter comeback after 44 years. Pardon, pas comeback, c’est RETURN. To clock this show, you need two things. One, Jamie Lloyd is a devotee of Harold Pinter, one of three European playwrights alongside Samuel Beckett and Eugène Ionesco who ushered in post-WWII Theatre of the Absurd. Jamie once staged 19 Pinter one-acts in one season like a buffet of existential dread. Two, Beckett’s Waiting for Godot is the crown jewel of the Absurd. Which means Broadway is now hosting Bill and Ted in existential drag directed by a master of minimalism. When Keanu and Alex asked Jamie Lloyd to direct Godot, Broadway basically said, “Be excellent to each other” and party on. A bromance four decades deep plus a director who mainlines Pinter like cold brew…that is peak Broadway clownery with a philosophy degree…pure Broadway absurdity. Top of act, Jamie invites you into the core of a willow tree, where the soul story unfolds. Willow in French is “saule,” pronounced “soul.” Coincidental? Add that “combat boot” in French is “godillot.” Layers on layers, like rings of a tree. F**k…a lot to digest. Listen and watch Jamie’s sound and lighting: when sound echoes or falls flat, when characters glow in filters or stark white light. To me, that marks real time, dream, or pure imagination…layers. What unfolds is death, despair, hope, power games, servant-master chaos, and codependency so thick you’ll need therapy. And because it is Jamie, he plants easter eggs that get the loudest laughs, the kind theatre nerds gossip about, the way audiences did when Loki and Captain Carter crashed Much Ado About Nothing in London #IFKYK Also leading men in underwear ✅, 🩸kinda sorta. This is Beckett by way of bromance, philosophy class on mushrooms, and Broadway at its most absurd. You can dissect it for meaning or just enjoy Bill and Ted in Beckett’s existential time machine. Either way, it is worth every penny, the overpriced wine at intermission, and a next-day appointment with your therapist. @jamielloydco @Waiting for Godot @alex ____________ #theatre #theatrekid #keanureeves #musicals

Unfortunately we aren’t going to make it out to the showing of The Last Five Years for Good Friday, as we are Canadian and the recent travel advisory posted by our government has shifted our priority to our safety, so we’ve cancelled our entire New York trip. I hadn’t purchased the ticket protection when I bought them a week ago, not thinking that something like this was going to happen anytime soon. Anyways, I had called once before and the rep on the phone told me I was stuck with the tickets to sell or just let them go to waste and wouldn’t offer any extra help, which frankly I understand since policy is policy. So I let it lie. But I decided to try again later that day and spoke to Cathy in the ticketing department over the phone and while she reiterated the same policy (again, I understand policy and was prepared to hear a “No refunds” again and just drop it), but she continued with something along the lines of “I’m going to speak to the box office and see what they can do.” Cathy came back not even 5 minutes later, and said she vouched for me given the scary circumstances and the box office approved the refund. Now THAT is customer. Thank you so much CATHY and the team at the box office that approved this in the end. When it’s deemed safe to do so, we look forward to visiting the theatre for...

Plaza Suite was an absolute dream! Front row is wonderful, however if you have neck issues I recommend sitting further back and you’ll still have an amazing view. The ushers are particularly rude. My husband and I had tickets to the Ambassadors Lounge prior to the play starting and for intermission. Was told by our server in the lounge that we could bring our drinks to the auditorium to drink during the show, removing our masks to take a sip, and then replacing the mask. Immediately upon entering the auditorium the usher (literally!!!) yelled at me for having a glass of champagne, and said that I must not drink it during the performance. I advised her that my server had told me differently and the usher threatened me that “she would stop the show if she saw me take a sip.” I was floored. I feel like there needs to be a little bit of better communication as to the rules of the theater amongst the employees. I really didn’t appreciate being yelled at and threatened. This moment cast a bit of negativity on what was a year-long anticipated, once-in-a-lifetime event for me and my husband. Was also disappointed to find they were put of most of the merch, even though they had it...

Now in its hundred and sixteenth year of existence, the Hudson Theater is one of the oldest Broadway playhouses. There are two full-service bars, one is in the Tiffany Lobby, featuring the original Tiffany glass ceiling domes dating back to 1903, and the other one is in the Dress Circle Lobby. Hudson Theater also offers guided tours. "On this behind-the-scenes walking tour you will learn the rich history of the 115-year-old building, examine the meticulous details in the architecture, gaze at the original Louis Comfort Tiffany stained glass, and marvel at the Broadway stage where Helen Hayes, Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Jane Fonda have taken their bows." The Ambassador Lounge can also be visited, an ideal place for an intimate and semi-private pre-theater relaxation and co-mingling. Usually the information about both the guided tours and Ambassador Lounge containing the respective details, booking info and directions will be send to your email a few days before the show, provided you purchased your tickets from the Hudson Theater directly. A free WiFi requires registering and providing your...
