Bodhi Fitness continues to be one of the best gyms in the Flushing area. I have been a member here for nearly 2 years and I’ve witnessed many changes implemented, both big and small, that make my overall gym experience satisfactory. I jokingly refer to Bodhi as a Mecca of Masochism when catching up with fellow members, because the community aspect of this gym shines through in the individuals that spend hours on hours here. A fitness center that becomes a second home is quite the rarity, but it’s easy to become acclimated when surrounded by like minded people who constantly want to improve themselves- members and staff alike. With a full year membership, you have access to the gym along with all the fitness classes that are offered in the evenings from Mon-Fri, and a boxing class on Saturday mornings. The fitness classes are booked through a downloadable app, GymMaster, which is a direct portal to your gym profile. The classes that I frequent are Boxing with Danny Ramos, Barre with Kara Brown, and Mat Pilates with Allie Fuller. Highly recommend these three classes, but be wary about booking classes that you’re iffy on attending- you will be placed on a black list if you do not show up more than twice, preventing you from booking future classes. After renovation and expansion earlier in the year, Bodhi is now equipped with an east wing that has a stretching area lined with AstroTurf, additional free weights, kettle bells, battle ropes, bosuballs, and a heavy bag. Be a good person and fold up your yoga mats and put your equipment back so my obsessive compulsive tendencies don’t act up. While you’re at it, wipe your machines before and after use AND throw out your wipes in the garbage can, we’re all adults here. In the west wing expansion, there are 3 Olympic platforms for compound movements, and 2 additional squat racks, 2 smith machines, 1 plate loaded leg press machine and various isolateral machines, in addition to the free weight area. Off the free weight area is a small boxing room, with 2 heavy bags and 1 speed bag- bring your own gloves if you have them!
At the front of the house, you’ll be welcomed by the friendliest staff either behind the juice bar or at the front desk, say hi and they’ll greet you with a smile. If you forgot your protein or preworkout for your gym session, have no fear! The juice bar menu has a variety of supplements, along with the tasty protein shakes and fruit smoothies. Shout out Cindy and Alina, speedy hands make for delicious shakes. Also shout out to Paul (general manager) and Stanley (assistant manager) for keeping the ship running in tip-top condition, if you ever have any concerns, these are the people who will take care of your problem to the best of their abilities.

Read moreOverall one of the best gyms I've been to around Queens. Equipment is usually repaired fairly quickly, nice staff, generally clean space. Lots of machines and free weights to choose from.
The women's bathroom/locker room isn't the best, since the toilets have had an issue with flushing, and there's usually a lot of water leaking from the toilets. There's sometimes a strange fishy odor coming from it.
There is an underground parking space, but it's currently been unavailable due to renovations for a few months now. Street parking around the area is usually fairly easy to find (depending on the time). There's also a parking garage around the corner of you can't find a spot.
The gym was recently renovated to look more sleek and modern. Featuring black walls, and a new layout. Renovations were being done while the gym was still open, which was a potential health and safety hazard. I wish they properly sectioned off the areas under construction, or closed the gym fully during that time.
The new layout for the squat racks isn't the best since now they are back to back. There's less space to deadlift, and some of the benches are a tad bit slanted where the barbell sits. The new setup for the benches is a bit uncomfortable too now, especially for women because they put machines in front of them. So now our crotches are directly in front of someone using one of those machines. In exchange for less squat and DL space, there's a lot of space now for the dumbbells and regular benches.
The cafe is fairly priced and offers a wide variety of bottled drinks, hand-crafter protein smoothies, pre-workout, protein snacks, and coffee. They are often coming out with new menu items as well.
I would also say for women to be cautious of creepy men, because there has been more coming to...
Read moreI was a member at bodhi for over 10.years and I discontinue my membership recently. The gym do has improvement in term of maintain equipment and have new equipment but the progress is slow. . At least the owner still care about member and try to improve the quality of gym.
if you don't care about having newest equipment, this is a nice local gym. It costs $$$ 360 annual.
Bodhi fitness has Olympic dead lift plate , two squat rack, and 3 flat benches and other. The spacing at the gym is relatively okay. They have good amount of dumbbell. There are also lot of treadmill, bikes and a stairmaster. The bad thing is there are not enough class and I think it cost extra The gym can get very very crowded but it is still organized. Most member rerack the weight.
The con about bodhi. Let's start with the parking is too small. People smoking weed in the lot. Many machines are broken and worn out. No new equipment are purchase. Although no new equipment, they have everything you needed. The locker room is really gross. It smells awful.
The Gym is just a little too dim and feel creepy for girl going in to the benches and squat area because they have to walk pass a bunch of guys to get to the squat rack.
If Bodhi can improve on the equipment and maintain a clean locker room and have more brighter lights at the gym. I will give bodhi 5 stars and I will even come back and renew my membership.
But as of now I don't want to come...
