So we’re members of Liberty Science Center and we saw that Brooklyn children’s museum was one of the the ones in their community that they advertise with. We also thought it would be a great chance to give the kids a very exciting ride from Jersey to Brooklyn. Unfortunately, we were very underwhelmed. It needs a lot of updating and it was not very clean or supervised.
The toddler area where they can build with soft blue blocks says no shoes, but yet the mats were absolutely filthy. There’s an 18 month and under area where your babies can crawl around that specifically say no shoes but yet all the kids in there had shoes on, and we’re definitely older than two. Maybe they were understaffed the day we were there, but I feel like there needs to be employees placed throughout. I never saw one employee past the entrance. Example, the bus area and market needs to have an employee to regulate children getting turns steering and in the pretend market They only had two pretend pizzas for kids to pretend to make, and it was next to impossible to get a turn unless you’re an overly aggressive parent or a child to cut your way in. Also, there were no toppings left in the containers as the kids had them everywhere and there were no employees cleaning them up. If you’re in a popular place like NYC you should definitely have more than two items for kids to pretend with in the market area. I also see in many of the other lower reviews, the same complaint of the kids being mean to other kids and children, not getting chances to interact with things due to no regulation. Listen in a perfect world it should be the parents doing that job but that’s not the world we live in anymore.
Going to liberty as often as we do They have staffing all throughout to regulate lines and to keep older kids out of areas where they’re not supposed to be. They also make sure that they regulate the amount of kids in the areas. There were signs for certain areas at the children’s museum, but there was not one employee regulating it.
The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting with period blood all in one bathroom and feces in another stall and the bathrooms were so slippery my two year old slipped and fell because of all the standing water on the floor from people washing their hands.
I think the most disappointing part was the roof area being closed. It does say on their website that it’s weather permitting, but it was an absolutely beautiful sunny day. There was also a lot of interactive devices, not working like the soundscape. I really feel like this place has not been maintenance or updated in many years.
I give it 2 Star‘s because it is very cute and I the kids still had a good time. Also, the gentleman that checked us in was very kind and welcoming.
I’m also one to mostly come to Google for positive reviews, but we were very disappointed after an hour and a half drive from Jersey.
My overall opinion is I’m glad we did it and checked it out but this is not a place I see a point in coming back to a second time, as there’s not enough to do and definitely really only for kids maybe grade...
Read moreWas great my 22 month old absolutely loved it expesally the sand pits and splash zone. Ohh and the bus. He loves vehicles and to him getting to touch a bus the front, the steering wheel and the buttons really ment alot to him I could tell.
We went early and was perfect so it wasn't very busy at all and really only started getting kinda crowded in some areas after 12. He could enjoy the interactive experience with minimal fighting for objects and space which was great for what we wanted on a mothersday. They have a beautiful open outdoor area on the roof top which was great to warm and dry him up alittle after the splash zone too.
Has more exhibits geared towards children who are alittle older but can easily find atleast a few things that and child under 7 can enjoy. He's only just grasping pretend time so fake grocery shopping and making fake pizza, building, puppet things and stuff wasn't interesting enough for him quite yet but when he is a bit older will probably really love that stuff and was still plenty of different types of things to look at and do with atleast somthing for any young child. Animals, international living, Vehicles, instruments, and more.
. I bought our tickets a few weeks early because I wasn't sure how it would be there for mothersday but his aunt and uncle had also bought a set of tickets not knowing that I'd gotten them already and tho not easily returnable they were accommodating and said we can use the extra set on another day. This is actually perfect because I would definitely like to go again soon and knowing that i don't Have to be worried about the date and time is awsome. I'm sure most parents can relate that having a certain date and time for somthing can be problematic somtimes and if he's in a bad mood or something happens I know we can still go later that day or another day so it's not a complete waste. Tickets were reasonably priced with options for donations and I believe I saw that they do have a certain day each week at only donations so if the $13 or whatever a ticket is difficult to stomach for whatever reason or you have to many children to easily pay for each at once plus the adult tickets they have the free days (again I'm not certain about this but I do belive I read that it's free on Thursday morning and afternoon if I'm wrong about that I'm sorry) eitherway it was worth the price easily for the few hours exhibits they can enjoy.
We absolutely plan to go again soon and hopefully often. There's also a beautiful park right next door and though no private parking that im aware of, parking wasn't difficult and I parked only a couple of blocks away. It's also located in a pretty nice location of Brooklyn surrounded with residential old brownstones which I personally perfer over surrounded by shops and offices like most...
Read moreI recently visited the children's museum of Brooklyn with my daughter, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The museum offers a wide range of activities and exhibits that are both educational and entertaining for children.
One of the highlights of our visit was the traditional Brooklyn mock shops. My daughter absolutely loved playing in these mini shops, pretending to be a shopkeeper or a customer. It was a great way for her to learn about different types of shops and how they function.
The museum also had interactive exhibits that allowed children to explore various scientific concepts through hands-on activities. My daughter had a blast experimenting with different materials and learning about cause and effect.
The staff at the museum were friendly and helpful, and they made sure that the children had a safe and enjoyable experience. The museum was clean and well-maintained, and there were plenty of seating areas for parents to relax while their children played.
Overall, I highly recommend the children's museum of Brooklyn. It provides a fun and educational environment for children to learn and play. My daughter had a great time, and we will definitely be visiting again...
