Child's Play NY — Attraction in New York

Our party (a 6th birthday party) was so great, thanks to Child's Play NY! They made our party fun for the kids and so smooth for the adults. Our party team arrived on time, jumped into playing with the fifteen kindergarteners right away, and created a custom (Paw Patrol theme) "emergency" for the kids to solve using their imaginations. Best of all--they did this without supplies...so there was no waste and no cleanup...AMAZING!!!! The kids had a great, great time.

From my experience, the entire process was personal, simple, and seamless. I appreciated the personal phone call in the beginning (it gave me confidence that the Child's Play NY team really cared!) and then appreciated the simple and informative communication during the week. I received one email confirmation and then one email with details: how to tip, what to know, phone numbers of staff, confirmation of time...and that's it! My oldest son was among Jocelyn's first kids in her program and my middle son started participating not long after. They are now 11 and 7 and still eagerly participating in both her afterschool and camp programs. I cannot say enough good things about Jocelyn and her staff as well as the whole approach to what they do. It is totally process-focused rather than performance focused. The kids are in a completely supportive environment where they learn the basics of imaginative play, learning lines (when age-appropriate), using props, learning music, and working with their peers as a group to make something special. These programs are of course an introduction to theater, which in and of itself is wonderful, but it is the even more about the exploration of their own creativity which is fostered in the most nurturing and positive way imaginable. Child’s Play is like a home away from home. I’m so grateful for this theatre program! It has truly helped my child grow in her acting craft by encouraging creativity, quick thinking, and confidence on stage. Beyond acting skills, the classes and camaraderie among students and instructors have been wonderful for building my child’s socio-emotional abilities—like listening, empathy, and teamwork—in a fun, supportive way. The warm, welcoming community created by the instructors makes every session feel safe and inclusive, allowing my child to thrive both as a performer and as a person.
