Fanta Cisse Professional African Hair Braiding — Attraction in New York

Ok so! I wanted to get my hair done at least twice before I make a review just to be completely transparent. I went to Fantacisse for the first time May 2024. I was looking to get Butt length Small Boho Knotless braids with Xtra Boho hair . The location has upstairs and downstairs salon. The upper salon opens at 9AM & I believe I arrived around 10AM and was greeted by what seem to be the lead stylist. I was asked what style I wanted and I showed them a photo from their instagram page & stated I wanted it very very full. My stylist Fatima immediately started separating the boho hair which I provided & then got to work & with the help of another braider I believe it took about 8hrs. Mind you I said BUTT LENGTH XTRA BOHO! THE BRAIDS ATE YALL! I will attach photos & from that point I knew I was going to be a customer for life! I went back to Fantacisse again in July 2024 for a trip to Mexico but this time I wanted a boho knotless bob with the same fullness. I was greeted by Naomi and again she & another braider immediately started separating the hair and got to work. Now Naomi’s attention to detail was impeccable she actually did the braids perfectly & even let me do my own middle part just for accuracy. & she is FAST AF! She executed exactly what I asked for & I had people asking who slayed my hair. Overall my experience with Fantacisse has been amazing. They are very responsive on their IG account so if you have any questions about pricing you can DM them & they will be upfront & NOT ONCE HAVE TOLD ME A DIFFERENT PRICE THEN WHAT WAS POSTED ON INSTAGRAM! So yall dont be scared to go I know there arent much reviews which is why Im leaving this very detailed one to help all my sistas out. I am not someone to write reviews, but I’m so disgusted by the customer service of this place , especially the owner. I will no longer come here and the people that referred me here will no longer come here. I came on a Friday around 4:30pm to get short box braids and it was a Labor Day weekend, so of coarse I knew it was going to be busy. First I did when I got there was ask Fanta “the owner” if I could be seen and showed her what I wanted to get done she said yes so I sat down. Around 8pm Fanta came to me and said “ show me the picture again”, so I did and she then went and told me she cannot do my hair today to come back tomorrow. I was FURIOUS! I sat there for almost 5 hours for her to tell she would not be doing my hair that day, so instead of get belligerent with her , like every other customer in the shop. I told her I would come back she then said thank you and that because I wait she will give me a discount. I came the next day, and what do you know I waited another 2 hours until I was finally seen! The person who say me did not know the situation until she called Fanta. The stylist then told me that Fanta will charge $130 for my hair! I said what! She said she would give me a discount , she said oh this style usually cost $140! So I said she’s only taking $10 off???????? I proceed because I had a wedding to get to and there was no way I was going to find someone else. Not only did I kept ripped off but my hair also looks uneven. Fanta is a horrible owner and only wants money. I should have known to leave when some of the customers were bad mouthing her and not only that but she treats her employees...

They do a great job and the price is reasonable! This was my second time going and again, I had multiple women doing my twists, 3 to be exact. The last time I had really long braids and 4 women did my hair! The ladies are nice and professional and the owner, Fanta is a doll. She is such a sweet person and she really cares about her clients. 2 drawbacks, it's in Brooklyn so the parking can be a hassle. You have to find parking and you probably will end up having to feed the meter, but God is good! So far the 2 times I've gone, I got parking directly in front of the shop! I still had to feed the meter, but at least it was right in front. She has an upstairs and a downstairs salon, I've always gone upstairs. Not sure why, but I just do. The next drawback is the bathroom and building are really old. The bathroom isn't anything at all to look at, but so far it's always clean and doesn't smell funny, but again, it's nothing to look at. The building has other business inside. There's a barber, a tailor and some others which seem to be closed whenever I'm there around 3 or 4ish. I leave around 9pm each time. She closes around 7p during the week and starting Friday, she closed around 10. For big simple braids she'll take the last person at about 6p during the week, but for detailed work you have to get there no later than around 4...
