Albert contacted me after he read my review. He asked us to come back for my daughter's hair free of charge. I don't normally go back to the stores which left me a bad experience, but since my root touch-up was great, I decided to give it a second shot.
When we came for my daughter's appointment, I saw the real Albert (it turned out who styled my hair was Polo). He explained to me that there were a series of keratin treatment products, and the one on Groupon and ProAddiction were for decreasing frizziness and smoothing the hair. If we needed straight hair, he would recommend Lasio. He went on using Lasio to fix my daughter's hair and offered us a special rate for this service if we come back as a regular customer. This time we spent less than two hours, and my daughter's hair became significantly soft and straight after the treatment. We walked out the salon happy so I am updating my review for anyone interested in their keratin treatment. Thank you, Albert!

Albert did a wonderful job on my root touch up and fixed my original color by toner (root $85 + toner $40). However, my daughterâs result turned out to be the opposite. A female hairstylist did the keratin treatment for my daughter. I found a Groupon for a combo service keratin & cut for $147. They told me not to purchase the Groupon and they would match the price over the phone. When I arrived, I double checked with the receptionist on the services and prices, and everything was fine. During my daughterâs keratin treatment, they asked me to check out, but the price jacked up to $200 because they had a miscommunication. The hairstylist said she offered my daughter a better treatment (ProAddiction?) which was worth $300, but she gave us a $100 discount. I felt upset.
If they told me upfront that the upgraded treatment would last longer (six months?), I would seriously think about it since the price difference was only about $50. However, the result didnât even last for one day. After wash, my daughterâs natural hair went back to wavy and frizzy (her bottom hair had Japanese straightening last year so it remains straight). Another thing worth mentioning, they kept selling the hair products (shampoo and at-home treatments) to us during my daughterâs treatment. It became a bit annoying eventually.
Here Iâm leaving one more star only for Albertâs great...

Read moreDonât hesitate to book with Peter Diaz AKA The Hair Doctor of the UES! Peter inhibits all of the qualities not only in an ideal hairstylist but as a person. He is someone who listens to your hair wants yet fills in the gaps when you donât know exactly what your vision needs; the dedication to his craft is portrayed in his patience towards his technique; and he has a great sense of humor and is very approachable, even through FIVE HOURS of hair color correction.
I came in needing a color correction from a balayage that was supposed to be caramel, but my prior hairstylist had used the wrong toner resulting in orange and brassiness all over my hair (waist length).
I showed pics about what I was going for but had flexibility in the end result, and I communicated my concerns to Peter about how my Asian hair doesnât lift equally hence how easily it can be to get 8 different colors in my hair.
I got there at 2pm, and he and his wonderful, kind assistant got to work immediately like he was a surgeon going in for a 5hr procedure. Using my prior balayage as a canvas, he artistically gave me a full head of foiled highlights grabbing all hairs that hadnât been damaged by brassiness. In between the foils and lifting to a higher level, he toned all remaining brassy color while I sat with highlights in my hair. His technique truly shines in his patience and how he uses time to effectively enhance detailâhe timed each section of highlights and removed the foils accordingly, ensuring that the lift is equally distributed. This is in contrast with all of the other hairstylists Iâve had who just leave you sitting under a heater with foils for 45 min flat. After he removed all foils and evened them out, he used an acidic bonding system using high shine toner with gloss to close hair back to normal ph level to get smoother, healthier hair and natural looking highlights. To top it off, he gave me a trim to maintain my current hair cut and polished previous hairstylists work to what it shouldâve been in the first place.
Peter is truly a creative genius. After five hours, you either dislike or are in awe of your hairstylistâI will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you...
