Pinocchio Restaurant — Restaurant in New York

It is very rare that I post on any social media. It is also very rare that I eat at an Italian restaurant. I have found few restaurant's that can hold up to my own cooking. Tonight I not only experienced the best Italian food I've had in the US, but it emotionally sent me to tears. With the recent loss of my dad, this food ( Truffle Tortellini ala Vodka with several glasses of Montepulciano(Ca'donini) brought back memories of Italian mealswith him and actually made me think I was in Italy. Even the espresso with homemade biscotti was amazing....not to mention the Tiramisu. I have been so proud of mine, but I met my match--lots of alcohol and not weak on sugar!! When you can find a business or restaurant where the owner loves what he/she does, then you know you have found a diamond. Pinocchio is a Diamond in NYC. The owner greeted us, took our coats, and welcomed us to the city. He offered us wine recommendations and went out of his way to make us feel right at home. Then there is the food! The table starter is bruschetta and garlic bread. My wife ordered the truffle risotto and it was out of this world and I feel like I need to mention it specifically. We found Pinocchio by complete chance after having a bad experience at a neighboring establishment, and we are SO glad that we did! Frustrated and hungry, we walked through the door of the small but very comfortable restaurant and were welcomed as though we were long lost friends. The owner (or maybe he was just a great waiter - we didn’t inquire) provided excellent service, gave some great recommendations, and turned what had initially been a bad evening completely around.
