Greater New York Federal Building — Attraction in New York

Absolutely horrible experience after listening to a local agency that stated I would have the passport for my son within a month despite the 6-8 week turnaround time frame. I came to this location as a Absolutely last resort finally getting an appointment on the phone for 25 minutes from the time made and stating I was located 1 hour from the city I proceeded only to be 1 hour late arriving at 11 am and having to wait until 530 pm to be seen. At which point I was allowed in to the office explained that I not only prepaid the expedited fee, passport fees, and 1 day shipping fee for but I was outside for over 6 hours. The gentleman on the other end of a phone (never seen) decided that it was not a good enough reason to assist and produce a passport for my son. I know it's been hard and things have changed since the pandemic but the complete disconnect and lack of empathy expressed is just saddening. I pray for the gentleman on the other end of that phone that had the opportunity to help after a day of waiting and decided it was not...

I took my mom there for a 3pm appointment for biometrics. The security staff is super friendly and patient and actually helpful. After document check, we were given a number and looking at the crowd ahead of us, our wait time would have been at least an hour or more. However, the lady who was doing biometrics, saw my mom sitting (we had been sitting for 15mins by this time) and she asked the other woman who just finished her shift doing paper checks, to take my mom first for her biometrics as almost everyone else was much younger. I cannot ever think of a more helpful and mindful staff at a federal facility in my experience. Kudos guys. This is why I came to America and folks like you make America...

There is a line but it moves very quickly if you have an appointment. The workers kept the lines moving quickly. I had prefilled my forms so we were in and out of the building in less than 30 minutes. No food is allowed in the building. My lunch an apple was tossed into the trash. I asked if I could retrieve it on my way out. I was told I could pick it out of the trash. The subway ia a minute walk from the building which is very convenient.
