Went here as a guest of a private party on 6/29. We had gotten to the restaurant early and planned on grabbing drinks at the bar until our table was ready, we were asked to stand outside on the sidewalk until they were ready. We were then placed in a private room downstairs. The atmosphere was nice but there was no air conditioning and was extremely hot especially since we were directly next to a kitchen area. We were originally provided one small fan but after reaching out to our waitress (who was very helpful and accommodating) we were provided a second fan. Another thing we had to ask for was ice water because we only were provided warm tap. We had also asked to control the music as our friends who had an event here in the past had said they were given aux cord and our waitress said we weren’t able to. Our first course of apps were okay. I loved the mozzarella sticks but felt the salad could use more dressing. Then our second course was the burger. We were each given half of the burger. I did not choose the menu so I would not have personally chosen this but others in the party enjoyed it. After a while one of our guests went to the bathroom and noticed that right down the hall there was a large space that was about 15 degrees cooler. We asked the waitstaff if we could move because it was just too hot. The same gentleman who made us stand outside came to tell us we could move. I will not speak for my group but personally this man felt like he was a bit passive aggressive towards our party and upset about our request. We were paying over 1,000 dollars for this meal so we wanted to make sure we were comfortable. When we did move to the air conditioned area we were much happier! Our final course was 6 small square pizzas which were unique and pretty good. We didn’t finish these though since we were saving room for cake. Unfortunately dessert was not included in the bill and we provided that ourselves. Finally, one of our guests was bumped into by waitstaff on the way to the restroom. The staff member did not turn around or apologize when our guest was bumped. In total the price of the event space and meal was $620 with a $32 fee. The rest of the $1,000 cost was drinks , tax, and tip. I was pretty disappointed with the service and upon reading other reviews this seems to be a common theme. I highly suggest no t reserving the event space especially in the summer. Service may be different in the upstairs general seating area but I will definitely not be returning to this...

Updated review: How low can you go? That's pretty much what we felt as we sat here today. The waiter we had was disinterested and just pretty meh about everything. The drinks were awful (lipstick marks on the glasses) and watered down. The burger, the one thing I kept coming here for for years was just a flat, overcooked over salted mess! Just lazy cooking from a chef who does not know what rare means! It was well past well done. The pretzel bun was undercooked and just doughy. This is the third time I've been let down by you guys since 2019 and 2020! I used to rave about this burger and keep sending friends here. I'd be embarrassed to do so anymore. The lousy lazy waiter should have been enough of a sign to have walked out but, I guess I needed to know how low the burger had gone. Ugh, nasty food and drinks! Shame.!

My original review from 2018: This review is based solely on what I can say is one of the best burgers I've had in NYC to date. I have no idea how the patty has been made, but it quite literally melts in the mouth. It's actually quite rare, but doesn't feel so at all. And the chocolate mousse, grain cracker and marshmallow desert was beautiful too! I've only docked one star on the grounds of the fries being a tad bit on the greasy side and the oil for the fries needed changing as it was hitting bitter notes. FOOD WoW. I was pretty impressed with the burger here. That's what I came here for and I wasn't disappointed. Though initially skeptical of the pretzel bun, it wasn't dense and actually worked pretty well for the burger. The patties were cooked to a great medium / medium rare which I appreciated it. The cheese also worked really well.

But what made it great for me was the meal overall. The dill pickle spear and the crunchy, super well salted waffle fries on the side were a great accompaniment with the burger. Really, really good.

If there was one critique, it would be that the combination of the bread and butter pickle used in the burger + the sauce was a tad on the sweet side, which I didn't love. It would have been great if the dill pickle would have been used in the burger - that could have added a bit more balance.

AMBIANCE This restaurant is all vibes. The upstairs was brimming and the heated outdoor seats were also full. So I started getting a bit upset when the host led me downstairs to my table. But I was surprised! The party is all downstairs. The ambiance was super relaxed and it was quite spacious. I loved it.

SERVICE Service was fast and pretty standard. Nothing to talk about here given I just got the burger.
