Isaac's Apple Farm — Attraction in New York

This place is a neighborhood gem! The staff is friendly and helpful & It’s open 24hrs and has a very good selection of fresh fruits and veggies, Beer, Ciders, Sodas & other non-alcoholic drinks, full dairy aisle with decent cheese selection, has a freezer section with different premade meals and foods including desserts & plant foods too. They got a good selection of home goods, condiments, dressings, oils, canned & boxed pantry staples, GF stuff, Vegan Stuff, Organic selection, Baking supplies, Snacks, Cereals, Pasta’s, Rice, Beans, Canned & smoked fishes, Pickled vegetables and some other goodies. Point is this is my go-to spot at least several times a week & of course late at night cause no bodega or Deli can beat it! I mean where else can you find a pretty much full supermarket that’s open 24hrs? Sure they have them but not many. Only things they don’t have is a meat or fish department so you won’t find meat or fresh fish there unless it’s a frozen product. So I guess that actually makes them pretty pescatarian, Vegan & vegetarian friendly though they have a decent Gluten free friendly...

There are so many great things about this place, it pains me to remove a star because of the ungodly amounts of plastic the place uses. EVERYTHING is double and triple wrapped in plastic. Veggies, fruits, bread, everything! You know how baguettes come in paper sleeves? Well, there is plastic around the bread too at Isaac's. If you don't watch the cashiers carefully, they will take your plastic wrapped veggies and stuff them inside of MORE plastic. Squash has so much plastic wrapped around it that it takes about 5 minutes to unwrap it. I honestly feel like all the plastic from there is starting to sicken me. I've developed some odd taste in my mouth that won't go away. I may have to start shopping elsewhere, if I can find anywhere that doesn't use unholy amounts of plastic. There seems to be ZERO awareness here that plastic does not biodegrade.

That said, the workers are lovely and polite. And they have dollar (plastic) bags of food that really keeps the cost fruits and veggies low.

Looking for great prices on fresh produce? You've found the place! Lots outdoors and that is where you'll find the heaviest discounts. Inside they've got even more produce from around the world and prepared foods like kimchi, pickles, etc. They've got lots of refrigerated, frozen, and dry goods.
