This is my very first Google review, which shows just how unpleasant my experience was yesterday during checkout at the Aerie store. It was all due to the unprofessional behavior of a staff member who clearly lacked both expertise and customer service skills. Employee training is urgently needed. To summarize, I was gaslighted. I was attempting to make a partial return for my online order, which required the original card used for payment. However, the card info displayed in the Aerie app didnāt match any of my card numbers. This was baffling because Iāve only ever used three cards in my life, and they are all saved in Apple Pay. I showed all my cards via my phone to the staff at checkout, but she looked at me as though I was trying to commit fraud. She insisted that I needed to present the āpaid card,ā completely disregarding what I had just explained about my cards. Instead of offering any help or potential solutions, she stood there with a cold expression, leaving me to figure things out on my own. I repeatedly tried to explain and even started pulling up my transaction history to show proof of purchase and identify the card used for payment. While I was doing this, she stood there impatiently and unresponsive, making no effort to assist me. Feeling increasingly stressed, I suggested trying one of my cardsāthe one I usually use for purchasesāto see if it would be rejected. This might help identify the original card used. Again, she offered no help, and her demeanor made me feel like I was being accused of trying to scam a refund. Finally, after insisting, we tried my card, and it was approved for the refund. Even at the end of the interaction, she handed me the receipt and said in an unpleasant tone, āJust use your paid card next time,ā implying that I hadnāt been using the original card. I was speechless. I had already shown her all my cards. So what am I supposed to do next time? Bring a GHOST card or a card with HER NAME on it? Still worried if the refund had actually gone through, I approached a senior staff member. Thankfully, they were friendly and helpful. They explained that Apple Pay doesnāt display the real card number on receipts, meaning the checkout staff had been giving me incorrect instructions and blaming me for not having the āoriginal paid card.ā Unfortunately, I didnāt have time to provide feedback directly to the checkout staff due to being in a hurry, but I left feeling extremely unhappy and upset. Aerie wasnāt the only store I visited for returns yesterday, but it was by far the worst experience. Other stores like A&F, GAP, and Aritzia all have professional and friendly staff who know how to treat...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am writing to express my disappointment with the treatment I received during a recent visit to your store. I have always been a loyal customer of American Eagle, but unfortunately, my experience at this location has left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected.
I had placed an order online and opted for in-store pickup to avoid high delivery fees. Upon entering the store, I noticed that other customers were being greeted by the associate at the door, but I was not. When I approached her to inquire about my pickup, I was met with an unwelcoming demeanor. Her body language made me feel uncomfortable, and it seemed as though she was reluctant to assist me. Despite this, I patiently waited for my order as she called for the pickup.
What stood out most was that while I was waiting, I observed that other customersāspecifically white womenāwere greeted warmly, while I was not given the same courtesy. When another associate finally brought out my order, she seemed disappointed when she realized I was the customer waiting for the pickup. I felt as though I was being judged based on my appearance and race, which was both upsetting and humiliating.
As someone who works in customer service, I understand the importance of treating all customers equally, regardless of race, religion, or appearance. Unfortunately, I did not feel that this standard was upheld during my visit to your store. I would also like to acknowledge that the security staff member was courteous and welcoming, which I appreciated.
I am sharing this feedback in the hope that steps can be taken to ensure all customers feel valued and respected when visiting your store. While I have enjoyed shopping at American Eagle in the past, this experience has made me reconsider my...
