Unfortunately to post I had to give a star. A horror. I saw the great recommendations here; heed my truth, my words. After getting three recommendations from doctors about his father but not him, I saw him because his father wasnât practicing. First appointment was OK. Subsequent were horrible, as well as his office manager, who gave me expired eyedrops. Both were arrogant, rude, condescending and he could have caused me great harm. His techs though and her office mate were kind. After myriad tests I saw him and he said, tersely, âwhatâs that in your eye, could be glaucoma.â Only when I reminded him I donât know, Iâm the patient, did he calm down. As a tennis player I asked him when I can play, he said âthe next day.â I was stunned. He said he has done cataract surgery on many tennis professionals and he âknows.â His is a new way. After checking further NO, NO reputable doctor would say to play tennis the day after cataract surgery. It can cause great harm. The last time I saw him, when I was called to come in for more âmeasurements,â I asked again and he said the same, I can play tennis the next day. Staggeringly, grossly incompetent, to say the least. He also said bizarre things about okay to have laser in one eye, original in other, kept changing his mind about which eye. He also said I need a Toric lens (more expensive), but no other surgeon said I need it. He also said I would have 20/20 vision in my nearsighted eye; again, NO reputable surgeon would say that. They try for that, always close, but donât promise. I asked him one more question when he stormed out saying nastily, âyou will pay for this visit, this was just for measurements, not my time.â That was it. I have asked my insurance to carefully check his charges, and the Dept of Health for the damage he could have caused me. Long after I cancelled the scheduled surgery they are still sending prescriptions for eye drops after surgery to my pharmacy. As I emailed him, if he would do it for free I wouldnât have him...
Read moreIn my personal opinion - Dr. Andrew Nightingale is one of the BEST Ophthalmologists in New York (may be in the country).
I did not know what to expect from my 1st Opthalmologist appointment office visit.
I had a blurry vision on my right eye. Did not think anything of it. I figured some prescription lenses and maybe some drop would do the trick.
Boy, was I wrong!
After a couple of tests - Dr Nightingale confirmed that I have glaucoma. If I would have put off my appointment with Dr. Nightingale. I may have permanently lost sight on my right eye.
Dr Nightingale immediately suggested for me to go to Park West Pharmacy to get some prescription medicine which would lower the pressure on my right eye and return back to his office within the hour - same day.
As requested.
I went back to the Dr Nightingale office an hour later. I was shocked - Not only did I not have to check in (Again) nor wait in the waiting room to be seen (like other medical establishments). I was immediately seen by Dr. Nightingale (Now that's what I call V.I.P service).
After second testing with Dr. Nightingale the pressure in my right eye was lowered - thanks to the prescription medicine Dr. Nightingale prescribed to me.
In good conscience - due to the severity in my right eye. Dr Nightingale advised to see another Opthalmologist who specializes in glaucoma, Dr Joseph F. Panarelli, same day.
I would love to thank NOT only Dr Andrew Nightingale but his unsung heroes - Dr Nightingale staff for taking care of me. I truly value your hospitality. Thank you!
Dr Andrew Nightingale - I appreciate your professional bedside manner, proficient suggestion. And more importantly I truly value your kindness and compassion for not only me, but your staff and other patients.
Thank you for saving my eye!

Read moreI like Dr. Nightingale. I was searching "eye doctor" on Emblem Health website. Of course, I try visit somebody near my place. I start make phone calls. Some doctors works only certain days (very inconvenient), other offices front desk were terrible, "rude" over phone. Finally I discover Andrew B. Nightingale (Emblem Health website, he is listed as Jeffrey Nightingale, just for your knowledge) . On first call to office I got impress, lady put me on hold, 7 mins later she return to me, apologies to keep me on hold, ask me to wait a few more minutes. A few minutes later she answer all my questions, advice me regarding referral and possible fees not cover by my insurance. (Wow, usually other places I received that info regarding "surprise" fees after). From past experience I remember, if receptionist nice, doctor usually terrible, or vice versa. But Dr. Nightingale are exception. Waiting time between registration, test made by staff and contact with doctor were short. Friendly, professional, attentive listener. He help me with my problem. I glad in NYC, in my neighborhood still have so great, "old...
