The place looked gorgeous, and the concert was wonderful, but the staff of ushers were terrible. We were told to take the elevator to the top floor and take the stairs, when we got to the floor, the door was locked and we were redirected to the floor below only to walk up two flights of stairs!! Furthermore, the guy waiting in line in front of me was told to enter the auditorium enter from a different floor even though he was originally directed by another staff member to go to the floor where we both made the line for. When we confronted the ushers over the miscommunication and lack of proper guidance, they just passed it off as bad communication. Doesn't this place afford radio equipment for the staff to coordinate amongst each other rather than put us through all of this BS. It is surprising that such a reputable place like Carnegie Hall can have such...

This is THE classic recital and philharmonic hall in New York City. The New York Phil renovated the old Avery Fisher Hall, improving its acoustics, but it seems to be impersonal. As large as Stern is, it feels magical. I remember John Tishman telling me how they made a mistake renovating the hall and how horrified he was. They worked until they fixed it, as it was a sense of pride for them. That is what this is. Carnegie Hall, Radio City, City Center, the Beacon, NYS (Koch) Theater, the Broadway theaters, the Loews' Wonder theaters and the Metropolitan Opera House make New York the premiere performing art city on Earth. You are not a New Yorker until you go to Carnegie Hall. God bless John...

Acoustics are fantastic! I saw the Ukrainian choir Perform the Carol of the Bells. The original choir sang this song in 1922 when they toured the Americas and Europe. They were trying to drum up support in the West for an independent sovereign Ukraine, which never materialized until the collapse of the Soviet Union.ĵkik Here we are 100 years later, and they are still fighting for their independence from Russia. There were many Ukrainians in the audience wearing embroidered Ukrainian shirts. Despite the tradegy of the destruction of Ukraine, the audience was very positive and you could feel their pride for...

Performed here for Juneteenth with Ebony Ecumenical Ensemble and it was another awesome experience. Celebrating the LEGACY of slaves being freed for real... In June 1865 two years after the EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION was signed into law. This was my seventh performance at Carnegie Hall with various groups and I love the staff. I love the professionalism. I love the maintenance department, stage crew, everyone who was involved with the shows there top notch professionalism all the way around

The seats are sloped enough to see most of the stage, but even a tall person can barely see the front. Comfortable enough and plenty of aisles to get there quickly. Ushers are a bit rude and disruptive on the balcony, sit somewhere else if you don't want them constantly interrupting the show. They use speakers so the acoustics don't really matter. It's a lot smaller and not as fancy as I'd been led to believe, but it's still a nice theater and a good place to enjoy a concert.
