I've spent the last twenty three years of my life wanting to visit this sign and by gosh oh golly did I have a wonderful experience here. Some people prefer Coca Cola as their soft drink of choice but I've always been a Pepsi man myself. Pepsi refreshes me in a way that Coca Cola has never been able to. Coca Cola calls out to me each time I'm at the grocery store, it tries to seduce me into tasting it but the moment that bubbly dark syrup water touches my lips I spit it onto the floor and the employees ask me to leave.
My wife, Michelle, she tells me that my obsession with Pepsi is abnormal and that I might be high functioning autistic. My kids don't understand it either, my son Mitch is more into sports and video games but all I want to do is talk about Pepsi.
I woke up early yesterday morning to sip on my first Pepsi of the day - it tasted sweet on my tongue and helped to invigorate my body. Mitch saw me in the lobby of the hotel and sat in the chair next to me, he tried telling me about something called Ratchet & Clank but for the life of me I could not give a damn. My terrible freeloading son has no idea how to hold a conversation with me. If he cared at all, he would have talked about how in 1959 Pepsi released a product called Pepsi Sapphire which had a unique blue hue to it.
As for my daughter, she isn't much better. Just last year she started having her first bleed and now all she does is walk around the house moody as hell. I wanted to punch her in the face so bad last night cause she couldn't stop crying during my evening Pepsi research. Something about getting pregnant and not being ready for a baby. I let my wife deal with that nonsense.
I know I sound like a terrible father but people need to understand the kind of stress I've been under lately. My boss is a complete douchebag and has been riding me so hard lately. Little does he know, I pissed on the plants in his office before I left on vacation. His plants were all dead by the end of the day. Piss like that can only be achieved from drinking Pepsi which is why I've been drinking it every day for so long.
Anyway, just wanna say I love y'all and this...
Read moreThe Pepsi-Cola sign is a neon sign at Gantry Plaza State Park in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens in New York City. The sign, visible from Manhattan and the East River, was built in 1940 and originally installed atop PepsiCo (previously Pepsi-Cola)'s bottling factory nearby. It is composed of a 50-foot (15 m) depiction of a Pepsi bottle, as well as lettering that reflected PepsiCo's logo when the sign was commissioned.
The Pepsi-Cola sign was likely manufactured by the General Outdoor Advertising Company and was New York state's longest electric sign when completed. The bottle depiction was replaced in the 1970s, and Artkraft Strauss Sign Corporation rebuilt the rundown sign in 1993. When the Pepsi facility was closed in 2003, the sign was relocated to the park. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission began holding hearings on whether to make the sign a city landmark in 1988, though it was not designated as...
Read moreI would definitely recommend visiting the Pepsi Sign at night. It's so cool to see the sign lit up AND you have a great view of the Manhattan skyline if you look over the water, standing with your back to the Pepsi sign. This sign is a landmark and the story goes that it was put there by the director of the former Pepsi plant (that has been demolished) after he and his wife were refused in an appartment building in Manahattan. Since a Coca Cola executive was part of the board in that particular building, the Pepsi director took revenge by putting the sign there and make sure the Coca Cola executive saw the sign each time he looked out of the window. DOn't know if this is true but I really like...
