I had a horrible experience with the staff at this establishment. I purchased a Puls'd voucher in May 2022, which expires 14th Aug 2022, only to be told they will not honor the voucher and I should kick rocks! I wanted to celebrate a special milestone with my husband and this place ruined my entire day!
I asked to speak with a Manager and I was ushered to the bar to speak with a woman named Christine. Christine never even had the courtesy to pause cutting her lemons and acknowledge my presence and concerns by giving me eye contact. She was completely unbothered by my grievances and after I expressed displeasure, she nonchalantly said sorry and I should seek a refund. She never made an effort to remedy the situation, offer an alternative to encourage us to stay and spend our money there, you could tell she never cared either way.
Businesses need to hold their staff accountable for the experiences of their customers. if you hire unprofessional, inexperienced workers who have no interpersonal skills and lack basic social etiquette, your business will suffer the negative effects of these encounters, which will ultimately suffer irreparable damage to its reputation.
I can say I will NEVER visit this establishment again! I have also advised all my contacts in NY of this experience and all have cancelled their reservations here for dinner and brunch.
I spoke with Puls'd and they were shocked that this establishment would not honor a valid voucher. How can you decide to stop taking a voucher, not email all customers with valid vouchers to advise of this, or allow all those purchased before the cut off date to be honored and once they expire, you would be in the all clear. The unprofessionalism and audacity of this establishment is quite unnerving. I have never been treated in this manner any restaurants and I have dined at some of the top restaurants in the world from Peru, France and Denmark!
Thankfully Blend on the Water was able to save the day and helped us to celebrate. Please visit Blend on the Water or Jackson's for good quality customer service along with amazing food.
I will be making direct contact with the owners to apprise them of this encounter and hopefully open honest dialogue can occur to address this situation. In the meantime, Skinny's Cantina will never get a cent of my money. I recommend Blend on the Water and Jackson's! Stay away from this horrible place that has even worse...
Read moreSo, my first time at Skinny’s. Enjoyed the atmosphere, the wait staff were very pleasant and attended to our orders in good fashion. BUT, along with other reviewers, the wait time after our order was very long, too long. The place wasn’t packed, we walked up, walked right in and were seated immediately (party of 5). Our orders were not complicated, no special requests (extra sour cream, etc), but our water had to be refilled multiple times before the food arrived.
I ordered the Carnitas Fritas, the waitress noted to me that is was ‘spicy’, maybe because I’m ‘el blanco’ and gave off a vibe that I was ‘not from around here’ (upstate NY), and that I might not be accustomed to the spice in the dish. Well, I’m not a fan of having atomic level wings with beads of sweat rolling off my brow (medium is my norm), but I do appreciate a small amount of heat. This was not anywhere near an overwhelming amount of spice for me, just enough heat to notice and enjoy, but not overpowering the other flavors in the dish. AND, the pork was cooked just right. And the white rice side disk was done nicely, simple and tasty. I’d definitely get it again.
Others in my group ordered Fish Tacos, Burrito, Quesadilla, etc. All had good meals. The Guacamole appetizer came out quickly, but I would expect that. And I was pleased with it and the chips that came with it, but I’m not going to pretend I’m a expert on authentic Guac (El Blanco, remember?).
So, I’d give it more stars if the turnaround in the kitchen was faster. I know places have been having issues with staffing, but I don’t know how long this has been an ongoing issue at Skinny’s. I know I don’t want to be seated, served immediately and whisked out. It was dinner with family, time to talk, etc, but Skinny’s bottom line may benefit with a better turn around time in the kitchen, a higher turnover but keep the friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Come in, sit for a spell and enjoy our time together, but getting the meal to the tables faster would be a plus.
I will give it consideration again when I'm...
Read moreFirst and for most I would like to start by sayin the drinks are amazing! But.... when we first got to the restaurant the gentleman vlad at the front was very unprofessional. I simply told him we had a reservation for 3 pm was it ok if we were seated a bit earlier, his response was you have no reservation I checked this morning. Mind you it’s 2:23pm to be exact. You could have checked prior to accusing us of not having a reservation. None the less. We get seated and have to wait for someone to come to our table and at least take a drink order. Now this is not no 5 or 10 min wait to place an order for drinks. At this point vlad comes to our table to ask what we would like. We ask him what kind of soda do you have, instead of him giving us his variety he proceeded to say “ well you know regular soft drinks. Really? Your kidding!? I mean I hope so, but as we know some restaurants sell cocoa cola others sell Pepsi so it would be nice that in the future he has the common courtesy to name the soft drinks that are available to customers. After the whole drink situation we order appetizers once we did he collected the menu. I said why if we have yet to order our dinner!? Ok! So he left the menus. Now in front of us is a Caucasian women who asked wht his name was and that’s actually how I knew his name, and she asked him a question not to sure but all of a sudden vlad was nice, happy, sweet yet with us he was very shady and unprofessional! Over all my experience and families experience here was very disgusting the customer service and hospitality was horrible. There are not enough workers so we didn’t not get the attention that is required at a restaurant and waited very long for the food which is fine and understandable considering “Covid” but when u are forced to give a 40 tip for no service that’s a problem. Oh and their food was disgusting we literally left our food on the plate barely even picked at. I would never recommended this place. Personally felt racially profiled and that’s not something I have ever...
