Planet Fitness — Attraction in New York

So writing this after not having been in MONTHS... Once the "summer body" folks really starting ramping up (March-June) I started working out at home exclusively. However, I will be returning soon since summer is over and the crowds seem to have died down( I walk past just about everyday on my way to the fruit stand next door). It's pretty standard as far as PFs go- but hey it's definitely affordable and clean. When I was going religiously there was always at least one of each type of machine out of order, but they did start fixing them more quickly towards the end. Free weights were readily available and if there was a wait for a particular machine (Oh how we women love the butt and thigh machines lol) you could easily switch up your routine a lil and come back to that machine a bit later. Staff is friendly and helpful, just wish the personal trainers had a separate area instead of taking up space in the front 30 min Express Workout section. It's awkward having to excuse yourself to get to a machine that 2-3 people are exercising IN FRONT OF. All in all, I know there are better gyms out there- even better Planet Fitness' but this is convenient to my job and...

This place is scam they charged me for membership fee that didn’t even know existed. When signing up I never got any membership confirmation from this location no email no text or no phone calls. Days later I signed up I signed up with the planet fitness on Canarsie and the transaction went smoothly and got a confirmation email with my membership within minutes which never happened with the location on Rockaway. I registered for the black card so meaning that I could attend which ever planet fitness location I then canceled my membership at Canarsie on aware of the membership at Rockaway and still charged me membership fee after cancellation. Now I’m thinking does all Planet fitness have different system because I’m thinking if you cancel from one gym, you’re then all other gym because isn’t the same membership that has to be scanned at the other gym gyms am I missing something here. Stinks, in every sense of the word. It always WREAK of gym funk SO HEAVILY! The black card message chair area smells like a dead rodent! It's super small. The basement/ floor workout area is WAY TOO SMALL and they have the nerve to have "classes", you will be literally stepping over people down there it's horrible! You have to do your best to find space to do any mat/ floor exercise even when there's not a class in session, most of the time laying in between machines is your only option. It's the worst! On top of all that the customer service sucks in particular the front desk! Not bad people just too catty, unattentive and unprofessional. The last time I went I saw that they had about 3 employees "in training" so hopefully the quality of customer service will change and become better. One change at a time I guess.
