I have been going to this location for over a year now so my review is an over view of my experience. My original gym is the wall street location because of work but i live near this one. I have to say that aside from it being relatively consistently clean, a nice manager, and convinient due it's location, that is about it. The staff are unprofessional, spiteful, rude, and unfriendly. Sadly, you as the customer wont know what is going on or why. After having an uncomfortable experience with a very slim female worker some months ago who used to work in the front due to some confusion about my account, i simply have tried avoid having any intearction with the staff on any level . I Just go do my thing and leave.
Yesterday as i was checking in to work out i had another experience with a newer employee with bantu knots , she was very very rude, cold as ice, and unwilling to work with me the customer concerning the slight mishap. Through out the entire interaction was rude. At one point i asked if the manager was around. I decided to still work out despite it. As i was paying for a drink the rudeness didnt stop there. Her male colleauge with an afro and glasses , i think he is newer too, he and her were throwing their shade bc their card system was acting fickel in the first attempt to pay, condescending tone " you have to leave your card in" " you have sign then remove your card". Just rude in tone and demeanor. Still i went and worked out. As i was leaving i took care of the issue with the account which i felt was very unfair, and i am returning today to speak with the manager. As i was leaving they were closing so they had locked the doors. I stood waiting to be let out and there was some space enough to pass. The same male worker came and looked at me with such rudeness then said "ex-cuse me" like i was in the way. I took another step back he opened the lock at the door and stepped away without saying word. Negative vibes all around and negative energy. It was on the tip of my tongue to say something to both of them after all the interactions. I did not. I just decided they were not worth it and concluded after this being the second time that there is a major pattern with some of these workers that they hire. I also was not going to let them ruin my gym experience as a customer . I will however be leaving this location soon... Negativity is not my style on any level. They definately need to read all the reviews about thier staff on here. Teach customer service, professionalism, friendliness, objectiveness, and revamp their front desk...
Read moreBeen going to this specific location for over three years now. Was just approached by staff and was told we can no longer have bags downstairs! My wife has a small purse she keeps our wallet and phone in while working out so it doesn’t get crushed by other people’s weights while we are working out. We cannot keep the wallet in the locker room considering the frequent clipping of lockers by thieves. A pretty unreasonable and straight up rude rule “change” that will result in many cancelations of membership, including my wife and me. Blink is right up the street on Flatbush ave and is the same price with much better equipment, hope the management learns their lesson from this one even though they won’t.
Edit for response: If that is the case the rule has been not enforced for over three years, as that is how long my wife and I have been coming, and bringing her purse downstairs 👏every👏single👏time for that over three year period, so check your past managers on that one. On your website it states:
"All personal belongings must be kept in lockers. Bags and any clothing not in use are not allowed on the club floor. Bags and clothing on the club floor present potential safety hazards and are targets for theft"
Your lockers are a far greater target for theft. Multiple times in the past 3 years i have had to overhear incidents of locks getting clipped by thieves who steal the contents, you are saying that a bag next to my body has a greater risk of theft? This is NYC, people are traveling and are in between work where they don't have time to take their personal belongings home, and the only way they can attend your gym is to leave their valuables in unsupervised lockers that are regularly stolen from?
I worked at Planet fitness for almost 2 years in Manhattan and i know how you guys work, let's not be silly and pretend you have actually been doing your jobs and...
Read moreI have been a planet fitness member on and off for over 10 years. And I always had a pleasant experiences.
Unfortunately this location. Didn't do it and I will contact planet fitness to change my gym for the first time in years.
And it had to do with the type of face mask that I had and the way that the addressed me. Instead of treating me like the adult that I am these kids at the front desk called me dude and told me if I don't like it here I can go somewhere else. Mind you they told me that they had a mask for me but never gave me one. And I went back to my car to get the surgical mask that they require me to wear in the facility.
After I came back in the gym. I explained to both of them just because I am wrong doesn't mean you have to be wrong in the way addressed me. After signing up and asking for the managers information I left the gym.
The reason that I choose to write this message is because 1) I lost the stiky note that the managers information was on 2) My experience at the location on Remsen rd in canarsie encouraged me to give an example of how to treat a customer.
When I walked in with the same face masked. The person at the front desk said Sir we do not allow those mask. And handed the correct mask. When I tried to plead my case, he explained that he understood my reasoning and advised me to use the mask I walked in with the surgical mask for double protection. I smiled and said thank you for the advice and proceeded with my work out.
I hope that this post encourages management to teach their workers conflict resolution instead of catching and attitude and telling me I can leave the store.
Best...
