Pleeeease donât come here if you are looking to get a workout in (unless youâre a 5am -8am kind of person).
Iâve been a member of this location since 2019 and one of my biggest gripes were the gaping holes in the floor of the free weight area. The floor is also so very uneven that anyone brave enough could find themselves injured and one lawsuit away from a lot of money⊠Iâm way too vain myself, but the thought is tempting.
I believe the floor has either been restored as of writing or may still be under construction, iâm not totally sure. I upgraded to a black card and have been ENJOYING other locations.
One thing Iâve noticed about this place in hindsight is how this is much less of a gym (a place where people go to utilize equipment to help achieve health goals) and much more of a neighborhood hangout spot where gym equipment is present. The men are disgussssting. I once watched an older creep (balding stringy black hair, thick black mustache, walks with a heavy limp, same black tank top) touch the legs of a girl who could not have been older than 17 under the guise of âseñorita this is how you actually do the exerciseâ - I encouraged her to complain. When that individual isnât preying on girls, he will be in a squat rack, using the mirrors to check girls out and salivate while a 10lb weight rest on either side of the barbell. Actual movement of the barbell is rare.
Heâs def not the only creep and definitely not the only one to hog a rack. Youâll often find people just sitting on benches on the phone, seated on the floor using their phone, or just holding a rack until a friend comes that they can switch out with.
Itâs also not uncommon to find yourself with a bench, doing your little workout, and some random man will sit on a bench next to you - trying to blow kisses or get your attention in some way. Once youâre fed up or happen to finish your bench workout (whichever comes first) and decide to go stretch, its not uncommon to find that the man that was seated next to you has also decided that he too needs to, at minimum, be seated so that he has a view of you while stretching.
Thereâs always mad people hovering around me (a very tall man) when I workout and it makes me deeply uncomfortable , so I can only imagine/empathize to the women and girls this happens to.
Thankfully summer is approaching and kids will be out of school so itâs also not uncommon to want a weight (any weight, honestly) only to find that a kid and their friends have a collection of them. Using one has a booster seat and the other as a foot rest, they will somehow still have 6 different sets of weights around them?? Idk, 157 is like an alternate reality/horror movie.
If cardio is your goal, you can just shoot up to the second floor and bypass most of this madness; however, if a weight is involved in your workout, youâre better off avoiding this location completely.
Members should be forced to take a training on consent and those who have received complaints should be booted.
Until then, I will continue forgoing the gym that is literally across the street from my apartment and venture elsewhere. My safety/enjoyment of workout ...
Read moreFirstly: Sometimes it can get crowded, also members shouldn't hoard the weights on benches, sit on a piece of equipment scrolling on their phone, because you wouldn't want somebody doing it to you, and that's disrespectful.
Secondly: Staff shouldn't go around gossiping about it's members to other members when someone complains about gym etiquette, because this could provoke a fight. While I was waiting on line I asked this this guy how many more sets and he becomes irate and ignores me.
Second time around asking politely how many more sets:
I had a similar encounter with him previously, and he throws a fit, "out of the blue", has an emotional outburst, and starts yelling at me and humiliates me in in public in front of other members, "calls me a scumbag", says to stop talking about him.
Hoarding the weights, gossip by PF staff leads to a confrontation.
Member has delusions, and imagining that someone is negatively talking bad about him to the front desk and things get out of hand.
Don't go there to make friends:
For starters I'm relatively new to PF and I don't know people's name I have never met this guy before, and keep to myself. It was very close call calling the cops because nowadays people can be dangerous.
My intuitions are telling me that Jesus receptionist (morning shift) is provoking a fight with another member who's from Italian descent and goes there at around 7:00 a.m.
It bothers PF member when I asked him how many more sets he had. The member yelled at me and said "stop talking about me" like a madman.
I had been confronted earlier by PF receptionist Jesus who had told me he had complained about me, but he didn't go into any specific details made by the complainant about why he is deviating from the rules or, maybe staff didn't explain the gym etiquette rules to him. It seems rather odd that this old guy wants to workout alone when this gym is overcrowded.
Defamation/Slanderous attacks by staff and member. Member felt that by gossiping, and making slanderous attacks, and filing a false report about me would be to his advantage to hoard the weights some more.
Bull daggers that go there and female PF staff are...
Read moreI have written to opt out of my contract with Planet Fitness at 3799 Broadway, New York, NY 10032. My name is Slegne Lopez and I have been a member since February 16th 2014 to date. Since then I have attended the gym a total of 11 times (debatable, I believe my key card was swiped times I had been there to end my membership). I have attempted to end my membership in person over 4 times, however it has been made very difficult, either itâs too late, no manager is available,I have to go to the specific branch I signed up at, or the manager will call me back because they are at lunch and blah blah blah. I have been asked to write a letter that CANNOT be emailed or faxed the only option is to send via snail mail. I have left messages for managers and no one has returned any of my calls. I do not live in the area and my work hours conflict with the regular 9-5. I have also been made aware of a balance of $122 which I would not have if they had cancelled my membership when I requested. I asked that this be waived due to their negligence. I should not be held responsible for the companies irresponsibility. I have done my due diligence. I have nothing against my credit and I pay for all of my services. I have NEVER debated any charges on any of my cards. This branch needs to be investigated. Their cancellation policy should be illegal. When I have mentioned this experience to others they have had the same turn out. I was forced to mail the cancellation letter via fed ex requiring a signature because they claimed no receipt numerous times! I have finally received a call and they are refusing my cancellation due to the balance which I refuse to pay. No text messages or letters have been sent to me informing me of such balance until its time to cancel my policy. Please help put an end...
