UPDATE- March 2024. I keep having to update my review of this gym because once again, IT HAS SIGNIFICANTLY GOTTEN WORSE OVER THE YEARS. Now there’s a new employee who opens the gym on weekday mornings late, still leaking from the roof. Also, you can visibly see that membership has gone down. It’s so bad that ppl are willing to leave and go elsewhere. No rules are being enforced at that this. ONE OF THE BIGGEST ISSUE IS MACHINE HOGGIN, it’s always the same people every time. They will put their personal item in one machine to hold it, all the while using another machine for over an hour. It’s really just bad. .
UPDATE- June 2023, so this gym really don’t care abt our safety. I honestly don’t want this gym to close but that’s where it’s headed. As I was leaving today a homeless man was coming up. I ask the young woman at the front if the homeless is a member here. She said , what homeless man. I said, he just walked passed you how are u asking me. They really just don’t care at this place. The ones who were actually good employees have left and I don’t blame them.
UPDATE 2023- I stopped going for a few months. I recently started going back and happy to see they have new machines and fixed the holes in the roof that used to leak when it rains. Unfortunately due to some of these members, a few of the machines are already OUT OF ORDER. PLEASE DONT BE AFRAID TO PUT UP SIGNS ASKING MEMBERS NOT TO DESTROY THE MACHINES. I APPRECIATE management fixing the place up; BUT my only gripe now is that the employees are cleaning when we are working out. Please have them clean BEFORE members arrive. 2 STARS ……………………………………………… July 2022 review JUST BAD. Three years ago I rated them 4 stars And now, this 1 star is just for location. EMPLOYEES- rude, unclean and Late some weekends with no apologies SPACE: 40% of machines aren’t working, while this is due to some customers, I believe tighter rules should be enforced RULES: speaking of; they don’t enforce them. They have a sign that says no personal trainer, yet people come with theirs taking up two and three machines without consideration of others CLEAN- oh my god this place is grimey now. Often times there’s only one spray bottle and paper available for the whole place. It’s just bad. The manager Yaramiah is no prize. The owner needs to fix this. Better and cleaner options...
Read moreI haven’t switched my home club from east harlem to Flatbush but I will in the near future. It’s in a decent neighborhood, and I like the location. It’s near to a lot of different businesses, grocery stores, restaurants, delis, eyebrow parlor, and a great park that also has a zoo. It’s also not too far from the Brooklyn library, which is also really nice. Brooklyn has a lot of gems and planet fitness is right in the middle of this particular part of Brooklyn. There aren’t too many nice neighborhoods where you feel safe in this part of Brooklyn, but this is such a great location for how clean (it’s a general cleanliness) and aesthetic it is, if I may use that word. There’s two train lines and one or two bus lines (possibly more buses pass by) right near to this location. And as far as inside the gym, all of the equipment works unlike in east harlem!!! I don’t mean to compare locations but if we are really being fair, even though they aren’t all corporate and they are franchised for the most part, there should really be something done about the members who just keep destroying the property. It’s not fair to have to pay $24.05 every month (and there are terms to that as well that actually increase the value of my membership and not all of them are in a good way) and go to your home gym and not have so many pieces of equipment (I’m referring to a lot of the weight machines) not working. And it takes an unusually long time to restore or repair these machines. Not sure why I’m surprised when it takes an unreasonable amount of time to fix something as small as the paper towel dispenser. The members that frequent this location on Flatbush have respect for the equipment or maybe it’s that the equipment is much sturdier at this location because I did notice that it is fairly new and in great condition, which is awesome because even though the design is slightly different, it’s also been more comfortable (if that makes sense) to use. Also, there is definitely plenty of cardio equipment as well as weights, which is another plus. I have a shoulder injury and cannot use the weights that target the upper body and I depend on the weights that target the torso and lower part of the body. The staff is also very personable and I have seen many of them on the floor just trying to keep it sanitized, safe and clean. So, I am very grateful for...
Read moreI will ALWAYS delete my app to update the new issues this gym has. I joined in 2019 and this gym just keeps disappointing. I feel like most people who go, do so out of convenience. My issue is with both SOME MEMBERS AND MANAGEMENT. MANAGEMENT, they aren’t enforcing their own rules. EVER and that’s my biggest issue with this place. Another issue I have is they need to put a new rule in place , NO FILMING. MEMBERS, you will often encounter members who hog machines for hours. I’ve encountered members who will put a personal item on a machine to hold it and be at a completely different part of the gym using another machine. I’ve encountered members and their trainers who are working out DIRECTLY next to a machine I want to use, so close that you don’t even want to say anything and start a problem altho they aren’t using the machine. THE NEWEST thing I’ve encountered are members walking around with their tripod filming. I was off of work recently and decided to work out at the 10AM hour. When I got upstairs I was mortified. I saw multiple people video taping some walking around with their tripod, inconveniencing other members of using machine because they are in that particular area. It’s absolutely insane. I won’t blame them for broken machine as those members who contract workouts are the ones who break them, BUT, if you are going to raise the price, at least enforce your own rules and protect your members. Seriously. I don’t see the point of $15 per month. There’s nothing extra that we...
