We had been eyeing Carnegie Club for a while and finally got to go for New Years Eve. We booked in advance to ensure we got a table.
The club is beautiful decorated and feels like you are transported in time. They have a coat check when you walk in, super helpful on messy rainy days (like NYE).
For NYE there was a $60 cover charge and a band playing rat pack hits all evening.
We were so lucky to be seated upstairs on a plush couch with a direct view of the band. The couch was super comfortable. The couch had two small tables in front of it to place our drinks, food, cigars, etc.
Carnegie Club has a few small plates to get if you are hungry, a cocktail menu, extensive liquor menu and an extensive cigar menu.
We had the truffle popcorn and cheese plate to eat. The cheese plate is huge and comes with full, large pieces of cheese plus grapes and fig spread with crackers.
I had a gin & tonic plus the raspberry fizz drink. Both were refreshing.
My husband had two of their old fashioneds. He said they were strong!
My husband smoked both of their house cigars at $20 each. I did not smoke. He liked the Maduro house cigar more so than the Connecticut house cigar.
Despite the cigar smoke all over, I don't feel like the club was suffocating with it. You still felt like you could breathe. The smell wasn't bad either. I did come up with my clothes smelling of it slightly, but that's to be expected. Initially I was nervous I wouldn't last the whole night with the cigar smoke. I did just fine and I have a sensitive nose.
The stand out of the evening was the service. The service was impeccable. Our server was always around and extremely attentive. Every one was working so hard to make sure we were all having a great time.
Part of the NYE festivities included a champagne toast at midnight, noise makers, hats and a plate of small dessert cookies.
They put the countdown on the TVs and the whole place did the countdown together. It was really a fun, special evening.
We will remember this NYE for years to come, and are thinking of making this a yearly tradition now on NYE, since we did have so much fun.
I feel extremely lucky we had good seats, some of the other seats in the place don't seem to have as good visibility to the band. The earlier you get there, the better chance you have at a good seat.
Carnegie Club was the epitome of class, elegance and great service on NYE. Everything was perfect from the food, to the drinks, to the cigars, to the whole vibe.
I'd like to come back for a Sinatra Saturday (a Sinatra tribute band plays every...
Read moreWent for their Sinatra Saturday, which was an utter disappointment, especially for a $45 cover fee and a $20 minimum order amount per person. First, the show started late - we were told it would start at 8, but it actually started at 8:20. Second, the show was also absurdly short, less than an hour from the first song to the last (with the singer taking a 10-minute break in the middle of the show). Third, they did not play ANY of the Sinatra classics, and I mean any. No 'My Way', no 'New York, New York', no 'Fly Me to the Moon'. The most well-known song they played was 'That's Life'. Third, they told us to leave the moment the show ended, even though it was only 9:20, which was more than an hour before the next show was due to start.
I spoke to a member of staff after the show to express my disappointment (a short-haired lady, I think she was the manager). Not only was she rude, but she was also incredibly condescending. She was dismissive toward my feedback, saying that "plenty of people enjoyed the show" and that "the shows are always sold out" (how is that relevant at all?) When I said it was unfortunate that they didn't play any of the classics, she told me "we had been playing the same set for over twenty years". Very condescendingly, she said that the classics were all in the 10:30pm show and that I was welcome to stay for it (and pay the $45 cover fee for that) if I so wished. However, she HERSELF acknowledged that the sets for the shows cannot be found online or anywhere else. So how was I supposed to have known that only the 10:30pm show would have the classics?
Overall, an extremely disappointing experience. Would NOT recommend, especially if you are a TRUE...
Read moreWhat a wonderful gem in the heart of the city—especially for cigar lovers! The Carnegie Club offers a truly timeless and elegant atmosphere, with dark wood interiors, soft lighting, live performance of Frank Sinatra that sets the perfect mood for an evening out.
From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by José the security gentleman. Everyone—from the staff to other guests—was incredibly friendly and approachable. It's one of those rare places where striking up a conversation with a stranger feels completely natural.
The bartender (I think his name is also José) made us delicious drinks.
My husband and I had a fantastic night. We ended up staying for hours, just relaxing at the bar, my husband enjoyed great cigars from the menu, and we were chatting with the people around us. It’s definitely an easy place to make new friends or simply enjoy good conversation with fellow cigar enthusiasts. If you're into cigars, this is your spot. The selection is excellent, and the staff is happy to help you find something that suits your taste.
That said, if you’re not a fan of cigars, this probably isn’t the place for you—the cigar smoke is part of the experience. But for those who appreciate a good smoke, a classy setting, and great company, the Carnegie Club is hard to beat.
One tip: reservations are a must, especially if you want your own table. The bar area is lovely, but tables fill up quickly. We were lucky to get seats at the bar and ended up having such a great time that we stayed all night.
Highly recommended for a memorable, upscale, yet...
