I would really give a 0 star if i could. I have never encountered a more unprofessional vendor like Universal Fire Proof Door, and have never dealt with a more unprofessional staff like Frank.
First, Frank got our simple order wrong. We order only 4 doors -- 3 left-hand and 1 right-hand, and we received 1 right-hand and 3 left-hand doors. When we called for a solution they first asked us to bring the doors to the shop and take the correct doors ourselves -- a ridiculous request to cover for their own mistake -- but they agreed to re-delivery after a few calls.
Second, all the doors delivered are unprotected and have multiple scratches, some are deep. To their explanation, that is normal and can be covered by paint; to my contractor, new doors are usually new.
Third, ALL the door locks are installed facing the wrong side. Yes, every single one of them. The poor guy who delivered the corrected doors (the 2nd time) had to stay and change all of them.
Fourth, the door frames does not have compression anchors and the shop does not have the capacity to provide it. I did not know what that is but the contractor asked for it, so AGAIN, I passed on the message. Frank had zero clue what that is either, and in turn said to me 'you should've known what you are buying' -- excuse me, thought that was your job? Frank put me on hold again, and went to ask the people who do the actual work, he came back telling me they can only drill holes on the frames (extra $20 each frame) and cannot provide compression anchor. Not helpful AT ALL and problem still not resolved, but I am done dealing with these guys.
I am sure there are people out there who had decent experience with these guys, and I myself did dealt with some very nice staff when I was going through the frustrating process. But, no, I would never recommend this...
Read moreI purchased a stock fireproof door 3 days ago and was told it would be ready the next day. That day came and I was told the door didn’t come from the warehouse so it would be ready the following day. I made a phone call the next day and was put on hold and did not get a call back. When I called back I was told to wait again and they would find out what was going on with the door. The place closes at 4:30 and it was 3:50 so when they got back to the phone they said it was ready for me to pick up. I asked if the next day would work because travel time on a Friday afternoon would’ve made me later than 4:30 so the arrangement was made for the following day early and they would be waiting. We got there at 12pm and the person at the counter said the guys where at lunch. Someone inside said the hinges were being put on. Then I was told by the person at the desk the guys were at lunch and would be back in 10 minutes. When the door came out they were still putting the hinges together. One of the workers called someone stupid in Spanish not knowing that my son speaks Spanish and heard him. Too many stories or lies being told. Read moreIt's a shame this company has gone downhill. I used them before and decided to change 2 more doors valued at approximately 2,000 each, installed. Before, they Weatherstripped and painted the door. This time, they said they don't paint the door, nor do they Weatherstripping the door unless I pay an additional $150 each. I had complaints from my tenants of having extreme drafts entering the home and I personally saw this. Scheduling with them was a nightmare and they did not make enough of an effort to come out and rectify the situation. I had to fly to New York, Weatherstripping, paint, and fixed the adjustments to 2 locks because the door they installed did not close properly and the lock couldn't be engaged. The tenant had to slam the door as hard as possible, disturbing the rest of the building, and still the door would push open with the wind at times. I made an effort to speak to manager Christian and estimator/rep Ashley and they did not return any funds for me to finish the job I paid for them to do.
