This used to be one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn. It was an eccentric restaurant, beef pho was only served on the weekends and you could tell it was made with care. It was always a comforting meal with great service. Then they closed for renovations at the end of 2023 and when they reopened the recipes had all changed. By reading the other reviews you can tell other people have had this same experience. The pho is incredibly bland now. Before they used to cook the broth themselves, it was let to simmer for a long time, and the meat that was served with the pho had been cooked in the broth. It was hard to find a broth as good. Most other restaurants standardize their broth, probably to save time and be more efficient, and it just ends up all tasting the same. The old Little Mo didn’t care about any of that. I wonder if it’s under new management now. The broth tastes store bought, and the meat is very fatty because it’s no longer cooked in the broth, or at least the broth isn’t cooked for as long as it used to to build flavor. It must be more efficient to cook less flavorful food. You standardize it by lowest common denominator and that way you can make more money. Now the food just tastes like every other average Vietnamese restaurant in the city (Lucy’s, 5ive Spice…).
I’m making some assumptions about how Little Mo is currently run, and I could be wrong, but I won’t be ordering from this restaurant any more. The food isn’t worth it, and I’d rather not ruin the memory of a restaurant I...
Read moreIf you ever get a chance to meet bố của Jimmy 👨👦 [Jimmy's dad] he would tell stories of HIS Vietnam, how he was born on the trail of persecution from Hanoi to the outskirts of Saigon 🚸👣, how he normalized the everyday hardships of just being able to find food to eat, and how he [on his own] snuck into Thailand and became one of the infamous boat people coming to America. You would also never sense any sadness in his tone, for self-pity was substituted by an undeniable drive to succeed in the face of so many doubters.
When we arrived at Cambodian-owned Little MO, that same belief fills the air. A shining light under the JMZ line 🚇 this eclectic neighborhood staple exudes what it means to be from Bushwick. Vietnam 🇻🇳 and Cambodia 🇰🇭 are forever intertwined, as evident in their phở 🍜. Hints of hủ tiếu (Southern Vietnam) and Kuy teav (Cambodia) are reminded in the subtle broth and in the fried garlic [and shallots] that tops it, given an insight on the our blended cultures. The catfish bánh mì 🐈🐟🥖 [with a side of sriracha mayo] proves the theory that you can be whatever you dream of without losing your true self. We too believe in karma, and we believe in what Little Mo [as well as the brother and sister...

we loveddd the food here. the fish and shrimp banh mis were soo yumm and filling, actually the best banh mi i’ve had in nyc and love the fusion twist with a side of fries cus who doesn’t love fries. my friend lovedd the mo’s special beef pho, rated it 9/10 one of the best in the city. the summer roll dipped in the peanut sauce was also so good. not a big fan of the marinated eggplant mushroom rice, i did not like the sauce and would choose tofu next time as my vegetarian option. drinks were great too, loved how thai tea was sweet!
