El Gallo Taqueria — Restaurant in New York

Food: I had the taco de legua which was amazingly delicious, it was tender and juicy. I really enjoyed it. The chicken bowl consisted of grilled chicken, beans, pico de gallo, pinto beans, sour cream, guac, and lettuce. It was a great portion of food for a great price. The food overall was fantastic and will come again to eat here. I finished everything with an horchata drink (favorite of mine) but they have other beverages.

Service: At the time that I went, 6/10/2025 noon, there was only one person taking orders at the counter and bringing food to my table. At first, one will think that service will be a bit delayed but I was proven wrong, I only waited around 5 mins and my food was brought to me.

Atmosphere: Although, I would’ve preferred Spanish music mixed with a variety of English. It was mainly English but given the location, I understand it’s for a different clientele. However, if you’re looking for authenticity, perhaps change the vibe. The place itself is quiet, you can hear everyone else’s conversations. Something is off about this place recently. When I first was coming here they would have normal food but in the last few times theres always been a ton of chicken bones in my pozole (choking hazard) and theyve been skimping on the amount of meat they put into their burritos. Today I had an al pastor burrito and there was only like 4-5 thin slices of pork in there at best. There was also a stray dry piece of chicken in it for no reason. The prior visit I had ordered a pork burrito but they gave me a dry chicken one instead, meat was super dry and unflavored. very nice place. Great sentry! Beautiful pictures, colorful art all over, even in the bathroom! The food is great. I always Uber eats from there never went. This time, we were in the Dumbo area, so we went in. We always walk around the area but have never seen this place. Not in the cut, but you can miss it if you're not paying attention. This place is a must go! You won't be disappointed. We got the steak burrito. It comes with everything. The guacamole is so tasty.
