Hidden in an area of Downtown Brooklyn between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges is a beautiful edifice which unfortunately for many remains an unknown. Follow me as I enter The Cathedral Basilica of St. James. Open the simple wooden doors, enter into the modest vestibule, silently push open the inside doors and step into an awe-inspiring church. In its simplicity, the Cathedral of St. James is magnificent. Sunlight blazes through the amazing stained glass windows and we are immediately inspired by their beauty and the story they each tell. Read moreThe Cathedral Basilica is the First Catholic Church on Long Island, as well as the Dioscean Cathedral, and being in the Diocese of Brooklyn, I wanted to visit it. It's quite nice, but it's so devoid of detail. I can't imagine it being so white and Grey when it was new, maybe I'm wrong. The baptistry mosaic throws the entire interior off, and the altar rail is all but gone. So I'm not a fan of the lack of aesthetic detail and all the lack of color on the walls, but I love the architecture. I will have to stop by at some...

When I hear it sung in your Cathedral, I tell myself; they are killing the Lord all over again. The hymns! they grag It too much. Alleluiah! Lift up the Lord for he has risen indeed.! Don't get me wrong I know some of the hymns should be slow, but not all of it. Sing a few uplifting hymns. Fr. Patterson I enjoy the way he celebrates mass. I feel like I had...
