Disastrous Service at The Panini Shop
I’ve had the misfortune of experiencing one of the worst customer service encounters at this location. While I understand that airport dining can be hit-or-miss, this was beyond disappointing.
We placed an online order, and the so-called "chef" came from the back kitchen five minutes later, completely ignoring us. No greeting, no acknowledgment—just a weird, silent retreat back to the kitchen. Another customer came in with the same experience. After another long wait, this "chef" returned to prepare our sandwiches, but her handling of the order was clumsy and unprofessional, like a child trying to clean a messy room.
When the sandwiches were finally ready, they were left on the counter unattended, and the same “chef” proceeded to ignore both us and another customer. To top it off, we had ordered coffee, but were told they didn’t have any—only for the "chef" to pour one coffee and sheepishly claim she thought the machine was off.
When we requested a refund, we were directed to a "cashier" somewhere in the airport. This is when the real fun started. The cashier was pleasant and helpful, thankfully, but not before engaging a manager who appeared to share the same indifference as the "chef." It's clear the lack of care for customer service starts at the top.
Overall, the experience was an utter disappointment, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The lack of professionalism and poor management are impossible to ignore. Newark, you can—and...
Read moreI like new technology but this experience in terminal C was very annoying. I just wanted to a basic menu and ordering experience. I arrived after a red eye flight and then had to spend a bunch of time figuring out how the new iPad system worked. I was never greeted by anyone at the restaurants and when I did interact with anyone it felt like I was a nuisance. The prices were ridiculous but we paid it anyway because that is the only way we were going to eat and the food was just "acceptable" but not worth the money.
I understand the convenience of the iPad tech but I would have preferred personalized service over convenience. On top of that the employees were often rude or frustrated with the system as well.
If I have my way in the future, I will be avoiding these airport systems. I understand this new system by OTG is now in several airports, so I will be doing my homework.
I gave this review 2 stars only for the convenience of outlets everywhere! But again I would trade an outlet for convenience, friendly staff, and reasonably priced food any day.
The OTG system is a great idea but a very poor execution...
Read moreThe dining experience in this terminal sucks. And I mean sucks. In an effort to increase profits, they have placed tablets at every table, and I mean from a quick stop eat and run place to the nicest restaurant in the terminal. Just what any weary traveler is looking for; a dining experience with zero customer service and a tablet square in your face that a thousands of people have fondled !!! And you can't turn the stupid thing off either!!! Just lovely.
Well, with all of those cost savings derived from not hiring servers, you would expect that the prices would be more reasonable than expected, correct? You would be wrong; the prices were just as high as at any other airport.
EWR has never been at the top of my list, but now it's even lower than b4. Avoid if at...
