Save yourself the headache and time going to the Defiance location and just head to Maumee or Toledo. Everything about this store seems to be a disaster. From not being able to find accounts or previously purchased warranties to the incompetence of not knowing if a prong tip can be replaced. This was after my husband dealt with them on 2 occasions. There is a lack of communication from one worker to the next it is ridiculous. The manager at Maumee Amanda contacted the manager at Defiance Betsy and informed her how to send out my ring for repair and what codes needed entered they still were not able to to handle the simple request. Not to mention Defiance staff attempting to get my husband to purchase a warranty that had already been purchased 13 years prior for the low price of $449!! The repair shop the Defiance location uses is incompetent and told Defiance Kay's they were not sure if my ring would be able to be repaired. My husband was actually told by a worker at Kays he may need to take my ring to Stambaughs!! A broken prong tip that they put on mind you.. Just Save yourself the headache. We walked in to Kay's in Maumee were greeted immediately and Amanda had us taken care of and out the door within 5 minutes. Someone from Kay's corporate needs to go in and provide serious education at this store. If not like so many things it will not survive in a small town. People will not patronize a business that is poorly run after receiving exceptional customer service an hour away at another Kay's. My ring has been serviced in multiple cities and this was the only one we have had trouble with. Again I don't think it is necessarily the employees fault but a serious lack of training. Especially for a jewelry store. A jewelry store that advertises jewelry repair should easily be able to handle sending out a ring for a prong tip. It is the most common repair that needs...
Read moreEverything started off wrong and ended wrong. I was sold a ring that couldn't be sized to the size needed. I bought the lifetime warranty so I wouldn't have to worry. So, we order the ring and then have to have it sent out to be sized. It comes back the wrong size and have to send it out again. This whole process took about an entire month from the initial purchase. I was told it'd be a few days and ended up being close to a month. The ring was beautiful. After a short amount of time the band snapped. The person wearing the ring took absolute care of it. We dropped it off for repair and was covered under the lifetime warranty. We receive the "repaired" ring back and the repair looked terrible but at least it was wearable. This happened 3 more times. And eventually was told that it was no longer repairable. The ring didn't even last 1 year. Under the warranty they would replace it and give us the value of the ring towards the new jewelry but we'd have to buy the lifetime warranty again. Something that should last a lifetime and spent more time being "repaired" than on a finger and I have to spend more money to warranty something they can't fix or repair. You'd have to be crazy to choose this place for anything. Also, while we are getting our broken ring they are openly stating the value loudly through the whole store. I'd think that's common sense to not divulge that information to everyone...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. After years of driving to kay in either Fort Wayne or toledo I thought having a kay in town would be nice. Boy was I wrong. Despite having bought their warranty on all of my jewelry defiance always finds a way to try to charge me to have it fixed. The last ring I had fixed rebroke in the same spot in less than a week and when I took it back their associate told me it was a weak point and the fix would never hold that I should trade it for a different ring. But wait for it I couldn't pick just any ring it had to be another diamond ring and it had to cost more than the ring I was trading. Now I attempt to get a diamond tennis bracelet fixed (all it needs is one spot resaudered)and right away they tell me they do this in a package and for 135. At which I cut her off goodbye Kay our relationship is not...
