Today, my son and I had the pleasure of visiting the North Bend Theater for a special screening of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.” From the moment we stepped in, the warmth and friendliness of the staff were as inviting as the cozy ambiance of this charming little theater.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the presentation by a voice actor and looper who had lent their talents to both “Star Trek” and “Twin Peaks.” Their behind-the-scenes stories added a layer of fascination to the experience, bridging the gap between the audience and the enigmatic world of film production.
Despite its smaller size, the North Bend Theater packs a punch with its character. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel part of a community, not just a spectator. The intimate setting ensures there’s not a bad seat in the house, and the sound and picture quality are surprisingly top-notch, making classics like “The Wrath of Khan” come alive.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for an evening that combines nostalgia with a personal touch, North Bend Theater is the spot. It’s more than just a movie; it’s an experience that stays with you, much like the timeless adventures of the...
Read moreWent to this theater for the first time for Banff festival. Great experience from start to finish. The ticket collector was friendly, the concessions adequate and reasonably priced (how many movie theaters have a 5 buck popcorn medium which has for 1 a good amount of it). The bar is an added bonus tho I didn't drink but water. You go through the velvety curtains into the theater and are ensconced in art deco charm with music to fit. The screen is very good size for such a sized place. The film of course was terrific. Sound wise not bad! The only quibble I had was at the end of the movie it got chilly and I did notice others bundling up. Perhaps a little more heat? It was Dec. The lobby was warm but the popcorn machine heats it. The line to the restroom during intermission was long and there was a little confusion between it and the one for concessions. Not a real problem. 4.5 stars. Note: if you are looking for a modern theater with amazing seats this ain't it. Also, realise concessions won't be as extensive as in the multiplexes. But you know...
Read moreGreat small town theater, for first-run movies! Just saw the latest Star Wars here, where it is sold out for weeks elsewhere. It doesn't take much of a stretch to imagine newsreels about helping our boys in Europe and in Southeast Asia, along with a few Porky Pig and Bugs Bunny cartoons Circa 1943. The seats are a wreck, but the place is clean and smells great. Well cared for, small screen as one would expect, decent sound , really a fun theater altogether in a town that still has a small-town feel. Once out in the Boon Docks, North Bend is now a bit more closely connected to civilization and it took me 30 minutes to get there in zero traffic from Kirkland. Still, it's a ways out there. If you find yourself in need of a film in this still sleepy town,...
