Pros: The massage therapists are AWESOME! It is often through massages being gifted to me that I have had the opportunity to enjoy a number of massages and a facial at Massage LuXe. My partner and I really enjoy Laura who works magic to reduce tension and alleviate stress. She's very professional and makes sure to check-in with the client to discuss problem areas and what to focus on beforehand. She's wonderful, as are the others I've had.
Con: (Management - take note!) The only reason I go to this place is because of the amazing massage therapists; however, the front desk staff make me NOT want to go -ever! I dread interacting with them. They aren't bad people; they are quite friendly and welcoming - until they realize you have a gift card and/or are not a member yet. Then they go into a sales pitch for why you need to be signed up as a member. "we see you here quite often, are you planning to come in again?" [insert sales pitch followed by 4 more attempts]. I feel guilted every time I go. It' makes me uncomfortable, and is a little upsetting as to how aggressive they can get. The whole atmosphere during my last visit changed from being happy and feeling welcomed to awkward and upsetting because I kept having to explain myself (which I shouldn't have been forced to do), and I was waiting for her to hand my card back. After they kept pushing me, all conversations in the front area died and it was quiet. I just wanted to leave. I don't like that this is how they do things. I know part of the business relies on them having consistent members, but I explained clearly that I wasn't going to consider it at that time. Guests/Clients/Members need to be respected and not treated in the way that I was. It was like I was being attacked and bullied.
Management - address the pushiness and aggressiveness of staff to pushing memberships on customers. You are LOSING people because of this. I don't like going there because of your front desk...
Read moreI was hesitant to write this review, but then considered that I found Massage Luxe by reading reviews, so I should contribute. I should start my saying I’ve had a lot of massages in the past, so I come at this from an experienced standpoint. I visited Massage Luxe in Novi this past weekend and had Patrick as my masseuse for my first visit. I made a comment at the beginning, as I usually do, that I love the scalp part of the massage at the end (some therapists don’t do it, which is why I mention it). The massage started off fine (back and shoulders) but then I began to realize he kept taking a hand off of me, fiddling in his pocket (I could hear it) and then placing the second hand back on me. When one hand was off of me, I could tell his massaging slowed and was even repetitive in motion or completely stopped until he put his hand back into his pocket and then resumed with both hands. I’m assuming he was checking his phone. This happened constantly throughout the first half of the massage when I was on my stomach. When I flipped over, he did the scalp part then. I was a little thrown off, as this is usually at the end and one of the more relaxing parts of the massage - something I’m sure therapists are trained to do at the end as it’s the midpoint of your body and leaves you feeling very calm and centered when the massage ends. He basically put his fingertips on my scalp and moved in the same motion for 5 minutes to the point it became irritable. Also, his hands were completely dry without oil or lotion and it felt awful. The entire massage was similar - little oil or lotion so it didn’t feel very smooth. He ended the massage after massaging my legs, which was odd not to come back to the center. He never once touched my feet, also odd to me. Needless to say, I won’t...
Read moreI've been a member since 2013. I was fortunate to have had Messiah, who did a fabulous deep tissue massage and who was very professional. After several appointments with him, after he left, Francis was fabulous & custom-made for me, respectful & accomodating. He knew how to give a real therapeutic massage. Now that Francis has left, I've unfortunately been having to try out other therapists. I am still searching for one that recognizes and accommodates my request for 'deep tissue massage'. The front desk staff are lovely & professional. The facility is nice & very clean. The Hydroluxe Bed is a nice extra. My recent facial was performed by very knowledgable & friendly esthetician, Aleah. My biggest issue at this time is finding a good fit for me therapist. It seems there should be some close management oversight re: each therapist's quality of performance, as they vary widely. A customer, as myself, should not have to pay to 'sample' the therapists and then leave disappointed & frustrated. Perhaps, rather than just being asked 'How was your massage?', a survey form should be given to each customer, after each visit, specifying which therapist and their performances. If there is no on-going quality assurance, the survey is highly recommended. There should be a 'standard of care', 'standard massage performance', etc. whatever. Word of mouth from customers/staff to front desk/management has been unreliable when they have made recommendations for a 'good deep tissue therapist'. In a couple of days, I will be seeing, yet again, another therapist, hoping...
