I like to give five stars to everyone but Goodwill is a trainwreck. I like to buy items to give as gifts, no one wants to see a UNREMOVEABLE PRICE STICKER FROM GOODWILL ON THEIR GIFT. And no one wants to receive a gift that was ruined when the purchaser has to fight to remove the UNREMOVEABLE price STICKER. On top of that, in many cases the oversized sticker covers important information about the product in many instances. To make matters worse I had a cashier today flipping and slamming my first item all over the counter until she felt satisfied she scanned it and got it to the exact spot on the counter she wanted it to be in. I had about 18 more items in my wagon. I asked her kindly and sweetly as it can be asked, do you plan to manhandle ever item in that manner? She was in fact turning new looking giftable items into no-longer-new-looking merchandise. Of course her response was to take an attitude towards me, and make a useless, classless comment, -clearly noticed by the people behind me on the cashier line, who said comforting words to me outside the store when we were away from this unpleasant person. I'm sorry if her life is so miserable that she needs to take it out on others like myself who are just trying to have a nice shopping experience, and if she is incapable of grasping the idea that people want to get the stuff home in the same condition that they brought it to the register in.
But the store is a horrible place between the stickers, the goods being abused physically by the cashier, and her nasty attitude towards customers. It's 2025, this company should figure out how to improve the very terrible performance they provide, and people who care about their fellow human beings should be donating elsewhere until they do. I'm sorry to have to tell it like it is, I am not doing it to be mean, I àm doing it so they can improve, in all the ways mentioned above. Goodwill has been a very substandard retailer for too...
Read moreIve been coming to this store for many years. NEVER had a bad experience. Today, I get up to the cashier and I proceed to take the hangers off the clothes to help and he rudely tells me that I need to go to the back of the line because I was supposed to take the hangers off somewhere else. I wasnt aware of this and promptly apologized and asked him where and he said “back there where theres a giant sign-not sure how you could have missed it unless you cant read?” I told him that the way he was speaking to me was inappropriate and he continued to argue about taking the hangers off the clothes etc etc.
I thought for a moment that I was being “punked” as it was pretty unbelievable. I asked him where the camera was and he said “I guess you cant see either” and pointed above my head. I had never experienced anything like this and it caused quite the scene. It was extremely hostile, embarrassing, so unnecessary .He recused to provide me his name. Im not sure what this young mans issue is, I thought that he may have a disability or something) because it was so over the top.
I did speak to a manager, privately, not to cause more of a scene, and he was extremely nice and apologized but this cashier needs to be retrained. Im afraid he will have a difficult time holding down a job acting like this. Someone needs to help him. Young black guy, lots of tattoos all over his face/neck/arms etc
I will not be returning to this location as this cashier was so hostile and argumentative that I honestly would not feel safe there. This could have...
Read moreI ran over to the Goodwill store this morning because I wanted to find some small framed artwork which I have been lucky enough to find in the past. I have been to Goodwill before. As a matter of fact I have been to many different locations. The one in Ocean however seems to think that they are a high end store. I picked up a small print that was marked at $9.49. Believe it or not, this price is high compared to what I have gotten used to paying there. I also found some other items for kitchen at home that were marked astronomically high, including a small used bench that they had marked at $52! I was astounded I questioned one of the employees about the jump in pricing and he agreed with me. He said “it’s the new management and they must think this is the mall”. I think I could find better bargains at the mall these days. How dare they charge such high prices when people go there who are in an economic crunch right now and then at check out, they have the audacity to ask you if you would like to “round up or add a donation”. THEY should be donating to these charities since they are getting 100% profit on everything. In light of this price gouging, I will no longer be going to Goodwill. It is amazing to me that they are getting everything for free and they are charging the public such stupid high prices. Oh well, it was good...
