We were there for the free day/ pom pom event. It was a beautiful day which made it a great event to attend. The art was amazing I do not know how people have such patience to make such amazing prices. I was very impressed with the clothing art. Made from a verity of materials such as rice, popcorn, sea shells and so much more. Love that they will have a free event every first of the Sunday of this month. I hope it attracts more people by doing this.

First, I visited the student part of the museum, and I didn't find it attractive, but after that, I went to the professional part and the second floor which I recommend you to visit for sure. This was a different world. The creativity in the art pieces will amaze you. The installation is perfect. I enjoyed my visit.

A hidden gem by the sea, this small museum packs a big punch with a variety of rotating shows that are themed and simply mind blowing. I've seen really great shows here for over a decade. Past highlights were Snowy Days, Smoky Nights: the work if childrens illustrators Ezra Jack Keats and David Diaz, Story Quilts that includes work by Faith Ringold, and a California watercolor show that was top notch. Recently, I have seen an increased focus on women artists and artists from diverse backgrounds. Currently, an exhibit is Twenty Women Artists, Material Memories by Kevin Vincent (which is excellent!! Sit with a moment!) And one called "The Color of Sound" which includes work by artists who are on the spectrum, and many who have synesthesia, an atypical neurological response in which one can see sound as colors, among other things! I just love this little museum! It's got great natural light, is a block or two away from the Pacific ocean, and has a sweet little gift shop! Members of the military are free, and NARM & ROAM members from other museums are also free under those programs. There is a dairy queen a 3 minute walk away, so really, there's no excuse to miss this museum this summer!! Open currently half days, Thursdays through...

Small and a very commercialized feel was not impressed about spending money for 5 minutes to walk through. I read ' fine arts' museum. Definitely not that. so for me that was part of my disappointment. By commercialized, I am referring to the exhibits on my visit that day with themes of Disney, Star Wars, and the main floor felt to me like social media beauty, glamorizing narcissism. For me it was a disappointment and beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I honor that the theme and style would appeal to others. Simply expressing my opinions, I was expecting a fine art museum which this...
