To begin, I would recommend checking all the other one-star reviews for this establishment.
I paid for my party, and after reviewing the bill and the total, I put my card down. When I received the tab with my card, the total had inexplicably changed to include a pork chop meal with an added egg, which I did not order. If I had not caught this inaccuracy, it would have been charged to my card. When I calmly approached the server to explain the situation, she acknowledged the error but was dismissive. She even attempted to snatch my debit card from my hand before quickly walking away.
After finally removing the pork chop from our bill, the server showed no interest in further remedying the situation. Sensing my dissatisfaction, she curtly asked, "What do you want?" I replied that I felt the resolution warranted more than just removing the incorrect charge. She reluctantly offered a drink, which I declined as I wasn't interested in alcohol.
I paid the bill and left a generous tip, not because of good service, but because I always tip well. However, I left feeling the situation was unresolved and continued to bother me. Roughly an hour and a half later, I called back. The server, who turned out to be the general manager, forwarded me to the owner.
During my conversation with the owner, I remained very calm. There was no heated argument or yelling. The owner was fully aware of the situation and backed up the server's insincere offer of an alcoholic beverage. I explained that if the situation was not satisfactorily resolved, I would leave a negative review online. She again asked what I wanted and half-heartedly offered $30. I agreed, saying I would accept the $30 and not write a negative review. She then did a complete 180, stating, "I will not be blindsided," before abruptly hanging up the phone on me!
The lack of professionalism and customer service was astonishing.
Edit in response to the owner's reply:
I find it troubling that instead of addressing the issue professionally, the owner has resorted to accusations and defensive behavior. For the record, at no point was I disrespectful or threatening, and at no point did I attempt to extort the business. The owner's claims are entirely unfounded. I simply sought a fair resolution to an error that should not have happened in the first place.
For clarification:
I never said, "give me $30 and I won't write a bad review." The $30 was suggested by the owner, not by me (equivalent to two drinks, as she put it).
The statement that I talked to the staff "like gum on the bottom of your shoe" is a complete fabrication. I remained calm and respectful throughout the interaction.
Roger was not part of the follow-up phone conversation I had with the owner, so it is unclear how he would know the details and specific wording of the follow-up conversation I had with the owner.
Additionally, after snatching my debit card, the server had to use two different machines: one to remove the item from my bill and another to print the receipt. This suggests the item might have been added after I gave her my card, which raises further concerns.
It is disappointing to see such a response from a business owner who should be focused on customer satisfaction and rectifying mistakes. As it stands now, I am still out the full bill plus my generous tip. This experience has only further cemented my decision to share my...
Read moreThe Flying Pig Pub and Kitchen is a culinary gem that deserves more than just five stars. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with an exceptional level of service that set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect, and their attentiveness made us feel truly special.
We indulged in four separate courses, and each one was a masterpiece. The flavors were so exquisite that we found ourselves closing our eyes to fully savor every bite. The chef's skill and creativity were evident in every dish, making it a feast for both the palate and the senses.
As a vegetarian, I was delighted when the chef prepared a special pasta dish just for me. The fresh pasta was perfectly cooked, the homemade ricotta was creamy and rich, and the fresh vegetables in a pesto sauce were bursting with flavor. It was a dish that showcased the chef's dedication to quality and innovation.
My husband enjoyed a steak dinner that was nothing short of perfection. The steak was so tender it practically melted in his mouth, and the flavors were so delicious that he nearly licked the plate clean. It's rare to find a dish that leaves such a lasting impression, but this one certainly did.
My son ordered the octopus, and his girlfriend had the mussels. Both dishes were met with high praise and left them raving about the incredible flavors and impeccable preparation. It was clear that The Flying Pig excels in delivering top-notch seafood as well.
Throughout the evening, the owners personally checked on us, ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. Their genuine care and passion for their restaurant were evident, adding a personal touch that made our experience even more memorable.
The Flying Pig is not just a restaurant; it's an experience. Every aspect, from the service to the food, exceeded our expectations. A five-star review doesn't do it justice. If you're looking for a place where culinary artistry and outstanding service come together, The Flying Pig is...
Read moreWow I can see why this place has so many good reviews! I only had one dish and the food was fantastic. Service was great as well.
I came in about 30 minutes before the restaurant was about to close after a long drive through traffic from LA on a Monday evening. I was worried the kitchen would be closed but I got seated right away and my waiter Levi explained to me what the market fish and pasta of the day was. I had originally looked at the menu online prior to arriving and unfortunately the item I wanted to order wasn't on the menu but I understand since it's farm to table and seasonal. I ended up choosing the kurabuta pork short rib which he said was one of his top 3 choices. It came on a bed of mashed potatoes and a side of seasonal vegetables (mine was purple and white cauliflower) and the short rib was HUGE! (Well actually the whole dish was a huge portion so definitely just split one entree if you want to try some of their shared dishes). I've had short ribs at a lot of different restaurant before and this was the biggest piece I've ever seen! It literally had 3 ribs worth of meat and it was so juicy and just fell apart with my fork. I don't even like meat and I thought this was amazing! The mashed potatoes and cauliflower were delicious as well, definitely needed some veggies to balance out that hunk of pork.
Literally the dish looked so good that a nearby customer saw my plate and asked what it was so he could order it as well.
Levi came by my table a couple of times to ask if the food was good and if I needed anything. My water was always filled. I saw him attending to some of the nearby tables as well so I was very pleased with the service.
Walking in, I would've never imagined the food and service to be at the level that it is. It was such a pleasant surprise and I will definitely recommend my...
