Lighthouse antiques used to be such a fun place to shop for antiques but, something has changed drastically for the worse and it’s not just the location. Awhile ago the owner got a new manager and has given her free reign to offend dealers and customers alike while ruining the atmosphere of what was a very nice longstanding antique and craft store.……… that isn’t true but, that is what is happening and it’s getting worse as time go by! The quality of items has drastically diminished because most of the best dealers have left for Olympia Antique Mall because of the toxic work environment created by the new manager. The longtime dealers that worked the counter for years has been replaced by the managers family…… who don’t know anything about antiques, customer service or being welcoming. The managers bestie has a space there with many ‘Made in China’ items that can be bought at Hobby Lobby right up the street for less and they won’t even charge you a fee to pay by card like Lighthouse. I believe all antique dealers shop at thrift stores, Facebook and garage sales for a find but, buying an average newer piece and simply replacing the tag and marking it up by 400% a day later bothers me. However, if you are ok with the pricing please don’t let my opinion stop you from buying what you love. The store itself is dark, very cramped and seems more like a strip mall thrift store than an antique and craft store. There are still some lovely dealers at Lighthouse who have some unique and fun items for sale at very reasonable prices and they deserve much better treatment than they are receiving! I sincerely hope that the owner reads this and realizes what is happening to her business before...
Read moreBeen going here for years and visit about once a month. I regularly find great antiques and will happily keep going here as long as they're in busyness. I would like to mention this is a co-op and advise you to not judge this place as a single entity.
I'd like to five star but a couple merchants take up space; some large section's of the store are always grossly over priced and have the same stuff for years because nobody in their right mind would over pay for something that in another part of the store is a 4th the cost. I just skip past those areas which is a shame as I'm an avid antiques collector. If the few figured out they haven't sold anything in almost a decade and lowered their prices or let another merchant take the spot this place...
Read morePlace has a large selection and prices are decent. However staff was not very friendly. One lady behind the desk was but another lady practically kicked me out. Came and told me "well we are waiting on you to leave so we can close." I had just asked the kind lady behind the counter a few minutes before what time they were closing because I didn't want to hold them up and she said 6. It was only 5:20. The lady who said she was waiting on me to leave hovered over me and I felt uncomfortable so left. I felt it was extremely rude. Yet here I am in my car still in the parking lot at 5:35 writing this review and they haven't closed down in a mad dash to the door. Was it really that hard to let me finish my shopping and browsing?...
