If we could give more than five stars, we would! This little candy shop tucked into the Old Market is hands down one of the most magical places we've ever visited—and it has everything to do with the incredible owner, Mike.
From the moment we stepped inside, Mike greeted us with the kind of warmth you don’t expect from a stranger. He made us feel like family—truly. He didn’t just sell us candy, he shared stories, offered us local treats, and made us laugh like old friends. It felt like we were being welcomed home.
The store is absolutely packed with a phenomenal selection—nostalgic candies, local favorites, and unique Nebraska-specific snacks you won’t find anywhere else. The popcorn was out of this world, and Mike made sure we tried some of his favorites. You can feel the love and care that went into curating everything in that shop.
Every staff member we interacted with was just as kind and welcoming. And right next door, the ice cream store Doleci (which we also HIGHLY recommend!) continued that same vibe—friendly, sweet, and so delicious we’re still dreaming about it.
Mike, you are a treasure. Thank you for treating us like more than customers. You reminded us of how good people can be, and we’ll carry that feeling with us for a long, long time.
With love, Your girls from New Jersey 💛 We will...
Read moreI originally stopped by just to browse—I was looking for a small edible gift for someone special ahead of an upcoming dinner. Honestly, they had so many options that I started to feel a little overwhelmed. That’s when Zane stepped in, and I’m really glad he did.
He had a calm, confident way of helping without making anything feel salesy or pressured. I explained that I didn’t need a ton of snacks, just something small and meaningful—something I could share that would make a lasting impression. He totally understood the vibe and gave a perfect suggestion that respected my limited budget but still felt thoughtful and personal.
He even wrapped it up in a way that made it clear this was a gift, not just something picked up last minute. He told me to keep it refrigerated until the day of, which I appreciated, and I walked out of there feeling more confident about the moment I was creating.
Huge thanks to Zane—and to everyone working there that day. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed being there. Their energy was contagious in the best way. It’s rare to walk into a place where everyone’s smiling like that. It made me a little jealous, in a good way. Definitely a team that’s proud of...
Read moreI don’t make it to Omaha very often. I live two hours away. When I have the time, my husband and I visit friends in Omaha, and always drive through the old market. I love it when we do this! I talked our friends into stopping at the candy shop recently. It had been a couple of years since I’ve been there, but I loved my experience, and wanted some of your fabulous fudge! When I got to the door, there were customers walking out of the store. As I reached to open the door, the employee locked it and turned the closed sign around, right in my face!? I told her it would only take two minutes, and that I was from out of town. She said no, the registers were already counted down!? Now, I work in retail management! And you just had customers leaving your store. You must have employees with fantastic register counting abilities!? I don’t mean to be sarcastic, I really don’t! But I was quite upset at the blatant lie thrown in my face! I do realize it was five minutes after closing. Five minutes!? If my employees refused a customer, they know, they would be in trouble with me! I am so upset, that I don’t know if I would ever come back to this...
