If you want a real and factual review of Coliseum of Comics (Millenia)...here it is. My review will be pertaining to the comic book part of the store....I am not a gamer. The store itself is great ('Nuff said). But seriously, it is a pretty darn good store and has great business practices. For me, I gauge a comic shop on a few things. Number 1: Do they have sufficient back issue long boxes?....they in fact do and well organized. Number 2: How does their 'big ticket' wall (key issues usually behind the counter...I want to see old stuff....rare stuff....quality stuff) stack up? The staff does a great job acquiring collections and keeping the wall filled with all sorts of goodies. Most of the books on the wall are fairly marked for a retail setting. I have never haggled and not sure if they move on the prices too much. I'm sure they will do their best to earn your business. Number 3: The ease and access of there current issues/variants. They do a great job organizing and arranging their current issue in separate sections to avoid confusion and intermixing of publishers....I love the organization. I cannot ding them on the availability of the variants, because some are so limited and there are the "hawks" out there that request or beat down the door at opening to get these hot books. They do work with their regular customers to add certain variants to their subscriptions when available. Lastly, I pay extreme attention to how the staff handles its books. I'm a collector and wish to have the best quality available. Sometimes there are publisher defects, but I'm talking about how the staff handles the books while putting them on the shelves and upon checking out at the register. Job well done here for the most part. There subscription rewards program is the best deal yet. Become a subscriber and earn "back issue bucks" for any....ANY back issues including the wall behind the counter. You also earn stamps on a stamp card redeemable for $10-$15 cash value in the store itself on ANY...ANY merchandise! As for the store itself, they do a great job utilizing the space they have. I'd like to see a little more square footage, but I'm sure its location limits that. Most of the time I am greeted by all of the staff when I walk through the doors. They do get busy and understandably so, they cannot reach out to everyone...but they make a great effort to earn everyone's business. For me, Coliseum is hands down the better comic shop of Central Florida. They have great, honest business practices, excellent customer service and a well stocked store. They are in business to make money, but they do so honestly and with great customer satisfaction. Coliseum is the "Cheers" of...

That being said my last visit was a bit off....there was a young (Hispanic?) gentlemen who helped me to start. The problem is they don't have the old comics displayed so you can see them very well and you have to ask for assistance to look at any of them. I started off by looking at a pretty high-end book that turned out to be a little bit off-grade for me and I asked to see another book off the wall. The gentleman seemed annoyed and said that if I wanted to see more now is the time because he was over there helping me. Basically he implied that I was annoying him by asking to see books off the wall and I got the feeling he felt I was being a tire kicker and wasting time. After the second book I told him I wanted to look at a third and at that point he said "okay" and did not come over to help me again. While we were waiting another customer asked where a specific book would be and instead of showing him he just gestured vaguely and told him he was in the wrong section.
We stood around waiting for about 10 minutes while he texted on his phone and chatted with customers before I finally went and asked a younger petite girl for help (who was standing right next to him at the register). She was much kinder and patient. At no time that I feel rushed or that I was annoying her and I ended up buying about $400 of comics.
I would suggest the manager take this review seriously, because if that smug fellow had said one more smart thing to me I was going to leave without spending any money at all and probably not come back. The young lady ended up saving the day and netting a decent sale.
Management: there's a clear distinction between your good employees and your bad ones. You may want to remind some of them that they are not there to roost on their "superiority". They are there to sell merchandise, not chat with customers about "Animal Crossing Lo-fi beats" and text, Especially not to make a customer feel like they're being a pain by simply asking to look at books. The young lady clearly understood this and the young man did not....She deserves a raise. He needs to...
Read moreFirst impression of the store is wow! very nice lay out, they have a lot of back issues (yet they are all expensive) and quality collectibles. The service on the other hand is a bit inconsistent. Some times it's out of the park most time's it's very Best Buy'ish. For example, i'll walk in and someone will say " Hello " I'll look towards the cash register where all the employee's are and no one is looking at me. Just like best buy greeters (they rarely look up from their books or whoever they are talking to), they could care less if you respond. Also I recently called to see if something i ordered had come in and the employee told me he couldn't check because he was in the back and to just check the next time i come in. On the other hand when i ask questions i get a wealth of information. I've also had a certain employee literally jump up several times to help me check out. Which is nice (however this is the same employee that displays Best Buy greeter skills which is an example of the inconsistency of customer service in this store). So the employee's seem to know what they are talking about! If the staff could be a bit more consistent id give this place higher scores. I've only been a customer for two months and recently became a subscriber. However due to recent customer service i will be relocating to another...
