My experience is what I can only describe as negligent. I'm leaving a "5-star review" for visibility this deserves. True rating: 0/5
If you're seeking a place where you'll spend hundreds of dollars with zero follow-up or aftercare, never speak to the vet and have your pet's issues persist then this is the office for you. I've been a customer for over 10 yrs, recently took my young cat there for asthma treatment. After being prescribed steroids, I was left in the dark. Despite my follow-ups, I didn't hear from Dr. Moorefield or anyone else at clinic for over a week. My cat's condition went unmonitored, and my concerns went unanswered. Wasnt the first time I experienced negligence here. This lack of follow-up is especially alarming given the heavy side effects associated with steroids. When I pressed for care, the owners then refused to provide further treatment. Now, I have to find a new vet, start over with my cat's care, as her issues and prescription continue to go unmonitored due to this clinic's failures.
Inconsistent Hours: clinic advertises as 24-hour facility, yet doctors don't work on Mondays. Have an overloaded caseload and still take long weekends, leaving urgent cases unattended. No Communication: Paid a significant amount for an appointment, only to find that they rushed through the process. Owner, Dr. McCully, admitted they were overworked and don't have time to follow up properly, with an average wait of 7 business days excluding Mondays. Negligent Procedures: In April, my cat was taken for a blood test. After being held in the back for over 30 minutes, I inquired about the delay. I learned that the vet techs were struggling to draw blood, stabbing my cat repeatedly-- my inquiry made the doctor step in. My cat, who has never hissed in her life, was distressed, and the staff failed to keep me informed. C McCully dismissed my concerns, saying, "That happens sometimes." This is negligence (that shes not only aware of but condones). Lack of Care: Stupidly returned in September for my cat's asthma. Insisted on being present during blood draws due to my previous experience. The tech referred to incorrect notes claiming my cat was aggressive. I corrected her that it was due to negligent care as explained in the previous point. Also, Dr. Moorefield's lack of clarity in diagnosis and treatment plan was astonishing-- I had to ask her for to diagnose my cat. At one point, she asked for my opinion on treatment options, which left me speechless. "Do you think your cat should be on an inhaler or an oral steroid?" This was after I paid hundreds of dollars for her expert opinion. Inadequate Instructions: Received no guidance on using an inhaler for my cat, only told to buy a $60 adapter. Had to turn to hours of online tutorials for help due to the lack of guidance and lack of follow-up from this office.
My attempts to reach Dr. Moorefield went unanswered, no one checked in on my cat's progress/ side effects. Dr. Moorefield decided she could no longer care for my cat, refusing to treat her further. I received no compassion or accountability. The owning doctor, Christine McCully, called me and was rude, taking no responsibility for her office's negligent care, didnt check-in on the patient even after I asked her if she had time to answer questions I had about persistent issues, and refused service. She didnt care about me, this review, and especially not about her patient: my cat. She must've told her husband (owner) who then called me which I thought it to be uncalled-for and confusing, especially considering his wife refused me further treatment just an hour prior when I was simply awaiting proper followup which she refused. He then stated he worked at one of my high schools and "watched me walk down the hallways" among other concerning statements. After looking him up (John McCully), I have never met him and find this disturbing, inappropriate and uncalled for.
They made no effort to address my questions, made innapropriate comments and left me to my own devices to treat and monitor...
Read moreMy dog contracted fleas from the hospital.
I recently had a deeply troubling experience with Downtown Pet Hospital in Orlando, FL, that has compelled me to share this review. My intent was simple: to have my Cavalier female dog spayed in a safe and caring environment. To this end, I made an appointment well in advance and even paid a deposit a month before the scheduled surgery, believing it to be part of the standard procedure.
The series of disappointments began unexpectedly on the day of the surgery. Despite not having signed any agreement or being informed about a non-refundable deposit policy, I was told that my deposit would not be refunded. This was particularly shocking because no services were rendered for that deposit, and I believe such a policy should only be enforced if customers are clearly made aware of it through a signed agreement.
Furthermore, my dog's visit for pre-surgery blood work resulted in an unexpected and distressing issue: she contracted fleas from the hospital. Even more concerning was the staff's approach to this problem; they pointed out the fleas as though it was a pre-existing condition and then promptly suggested I purchase flea medication from them. This situation not only raises questions about the cleanliness of the facility but also suggests a prioritization of profit over genuine animal care.
The handling of both the non-refundable deposit and the flea issue has led me to question the ethics and motivations of Downtown Pet Hospital. It seems their focus is more on financial gain rather than providing compassionate and professional veterinary care.
I am sharing my experience to caution other pet owners who are seeking trustworthy and empathetic care for their pets. It's crucial for veterinary practices to operate with transparency, professionalism, and a genuine concern for the well-being of animals. Unfortunately, my experience at Downtown Pet Hospital was far from this standard. I hope this review encourages potential clients to carefully consider their options and prompts the hospital to reassess their policies...
Read moreDr. Minton is so incredibly thorough, kind and wonderful. There is a reason that she has been my veterinarian for almost 10 years, the fact that I just can’t see anyone else caring about my pets as much as she does. She is incredibly intelligent, but also so easy to talk to. I have recommended her to coworkers and friends and they love her too! When I moved a bit further away, I tried to go to a clinic who was closer to where I live, even in just some circumstances for convenience and just do any “serious” visits here, but it just wasn’t right. I was too spoiled from my experience here. Funny enough, I will have been at DPH three times over the last month with my crew, and the slightly further drive is well worth it.
The office is clean, modern and the prices are insanely reasonable for the level of care provided. This is not a low cost vet or shot clinic, this is a reasonably priced full service animal hospital that will take VERY good care of you and your pet and can do labwork, imaging, surgery, dentistry, etc.
The staff loves on my dog Gator (and my previous pups who have since crossed the bridge) every visit and he leaves with a wagging tail and a belly full of treats. I also love their fear free techniques that really do help make visits less stressful for my kitties.
I receive all records, invoices, etc that I have requested promptly which helps expedite submitting my pet insurance immensely. Taylor is always lovely at the front desk, as are the other CSRs. The technicians (Gator loves Emily especially!) are thorough in getting patient histories and I love that I could hear everyone just gushing over how precious my dog was when they borrowed him from the exam room to administer his ear infusion.
When I walk in, everyone working there seems just genuinely happy to be there. I consider myself a tough critic as I have worked in the veterinary field for a while and have worked in both general and specialty practice, Downtown Pet Hospital is “it” and I’m so thankful to...
