I drove down yesterday to try again, everything looked the same until I actually got on the sand. It's littered with cigarette butts everywhere, lots of them. Go South (on your right, while facing the ocean) from there and the beach allows vehicles and there are increasing numbers of beachgoers. Go North and there is no traffic and less population.
