This has been one of my favorite places for years and as of yesterday, I will NEVER go back. I went yesterday and waited two hours for 1 taco, a side of chicken and a side of mac & cheese ( order 100 if you want to fact check over there hulas). My friend got his burger and fries, but never his mac & cheese. I didn’t get any of my food. I asked what happened because I’ve been here hundreds of times and know how they work. I saw people come and go that arrived a good 30 minutes after me. The answer was nothing happened. The kitchen is backed up. It is interesting that nothing happened but when I asked about the other half of my Missing order nobody knew what was missing. If they were working on my order, one could easily conclude that they would in fact know what they were “working on”. But they had no clue. There was absolutely zero accountability, and then the unstable, young girl working the counter with long brown hair proceeded to yell at me endlessly. I stood calmly, asking her to stop yelling at me numerous times which only encouraged her to yell at me some more, apparently. The guy at the window did tell her to walk away numerous times, which she did once but she couldn’t help herself so she then approached me from behind, yelling at me some more. I am so glad to have fought for my country to allow self entitled ignorance like her to treat paying customers with the highest regard of disrespect possible. I just wanted a refund for the missing food so I could go home and never return. Window guy gave me a bag of food with the missing items and only credited me for one taco. I didn’t want the food. I just wanted a refund. Two Hours after entering Jimmy Hula‘s I left with a bag with most of what was missing from the order, but not all of it. This is some of the worst service I’ve ever had. I asked for the manager, but was told he was busy so crazy girl at the counter just proceeded to continue yelling at me, and nobody really stepped in to attempt to control the riffraff they have working there. If this is the level of standards that is acceptable for their employees, service and customer service then nobody should be giving them their hard earned money. Go somewhere else! So sad and unfortunate. I will tell everyone that...
Read moreThe staff, for the most part, was incredibly rude, especially the waitress and manager who handled my complaint that the side of queso for my order was overpriced. When I commented to the manager that I felt his employee's reaction to my complaint was unacceptable, he stopped processing my refund, threw a wadded up receipt at me, said it was me who had an attitude problem, and to take it up with corporate, thus confirming my assessment that the staff here is largely without customer service skills and the problem stems from the top down. Personally, I feel that $3.50 is far too much for a tablespoon of queso dip and a fountain drink (I know what these actually cost and what respectable profit margins are after accounting for staffing and operating expenses, no matter how many refills you get on the drink, etc), and wanted my refund for the misrepresented items. I got nothing of the sort. I got verbally assaulted by multiple staff and battered (if you what to get technical) by the manager instead. On the bright side of things our tacos were excellent, and there was one woman in particular working there who shined like a diamond in a midden heap. She, who had took our order, was the only person working who showed genuine care for guests. She didn't skip a beat when presented with an order with special requests and actually walked around to the tables and engaged with guests to ensure they were having a positive experience (what a concept!!). (For whomever reads this she has dark hair (probably chin length), wears glasses yet has eyes that sparkle with joy behind them, is rather tall, and has a rounder shaped face with freckles if I remember correctly.) She should be the manager, not the 4'11" jerk who thinks it is ok to abuse and denigrate paying customers with whom he has a very minor disagreement. I feel terrible for anyone who works under this man's supervision, and find it contemptable that he is entrusted with any kind of authority, even in a small restaurant...
Read moreFirst experience at Jimmy Hula's was great and Robin the bartender is awesome. However, the second experience not so much. The manager Maria was very disrespectful to paying customers. We had a large group of seven people that were fully functioning and happy to give our business to the establishment. One of our guests is louder than most and was simply having a great time with the rest of us. He was not beligerant in any way shape or form and the rest of the group was perfectly fine and collected. The restaurant was not as busy causing all volume to be heard no matter the level. There were no children in the bar whatsoever either. Sunday is bottomless mimosas which would naturally cause people to be drinking and potentially be a bit louder than normal. Maria advised Robin that NOBODY in our group was permitted to have any other drinks or shots because of one person being loud. Let's be realistic. I don't know about you but if I managed a bar, I would understand that people are going to be loud , especially if they are drinking, and as a person who has plenty of management experience, you don't tell people to go to other restaurants when you try to talk about the conflict at hand. When someone brings something to you as a manager you try to find a solution don't deflect them to another location because you can't handle a direct discussion about yourself being wrong and making an impulsive decision thinking someone is more intoxicated than they actually are based on them just having a good time. We were just there within the last hour and I am writing this review in full which clearly shows that we were not at the level of intoxication that the manager Maria was claiming. We won't be going here again and will be glad to take her suggestion and take our business elsewhere. I don't recommend going to Jimmy Hula's in Ormond if you are looking to have a...
