I’ve been a loyal library patron since 2018 and have greatly appreciated the resources and services your branch provides. I frequently use the computers, printers, and enjoy the ability to charge my electric vehicle while utilizing the library or visiting nearby businesses. I've gone to the library, eaten next door, returned to the library, and never once had anyone accuse me of abuse of services. I've never had an issue until a recent interaction with a staff member that left me feeling uncomfortable and unfairly judged.
While charging my vehicle something I’ve routinely done for the past year and a half I was approached by an older white woman with white hair who appeared to be a staff member. I initially didn’t engage until she flashed a library badge on her shirt. When I partially rolled down my window, she accused me of charging “all day.” This was simply not true. My session lasted 1 hour and 50 minutes, and I paid the standard ChargePoint rate ($1 for the first hour, $2 for the second). I moved my vehicle once charging was complete.
I tried to calmly explain that I always follow the posted rules, and I’ve even previously asked inside the library whether it was okay to briefly leave and return while charging; staff has always said yes. However, this employee insisted the charging was “free” and that I was abusing it. That’s incorrect. ChargePoint charges me each time, and I have the receipts to prove it. I've charged an hour before you've opened and no security guard has ever told me I couldn't. People are waiting outside the library to get in while I charge and then go in or I eat next door and return when you are open so it can finish charging. She asked if I was using library services or had a card. I was backing out of the spot and have the barcode membership on my keychain and one in my wallet which I told her.
The conversation felt unnecessarily confrontational. She ended by saying “as long as you understand and follow the rules, it’s fine” which I already was. I left a voicemail for the branch manager. I’d appreciate it if someone could speak with this staff member, as the interaction felt overreaching and inconsistent with the otherwise friendly and professional environment I’ve always experienced from this library.
Thank you for your time...
Read moreOn my final day in Las Vegas for a business trip, I was looking for a quiet, organized space to decompress from the busy conference I had just attended. I wanted a place where I could read through important emails, watch a movie, and handle some pending work without the noise and distractions of the strip. My search led me to the Clark County Library, and I’m so glad it did.
From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by how well-kept and orderly the facility was. The atmosphere was calm, clean, and inviting. The staff were exceptional, friendly, attentive, and quick to understand my needs as a visitor from out of state seeking both a peaceful environment and functional workspace.
They went above and beyond by recommending a private study room. Although it was initially in use, I was able to comfortably settle at a table in the meantime, which allowed me to get started on my work. Once the private room became available, the staff made the transition smooth and seamless. Having that quiet, dedicated space allowed me to focus deeply, wrap up my business tasks, and recharge before heading home.
The professionalism and customer service I experienced were top-notch. It’s clear that the staff take pride in creating a welcoming environment for both locals and visitors. Whether you need a study area, a business-friendly space, or simply a peaceful spot to read or relax, this library is an excellent choice.
I highly recommend the Clark County Library to anyone visiting Las Vegas who needs a productive and tranquil escape from the city’s...
Read moreTerrible service. Making up rules as they go along as to why you are unable to obtain a library card for yourself and your kids. We had many things with the address on it, even mail with a postmark within 30 days as shown on their list which I have included a copy of. Sharonda is the rudest employee I have yet to ever encounter. She refused to answer my inquiry requesting what the required documents are in writing or online, stating "I just told you." I will contact management and am now being made to come up here again in 7 days when the temporary extension or library access she provided expires. My son is special needs and the only activity he enjoys is coming to the library, but some overzealous employee named Sharonda prefers to deny him of that. Rude for no reason. We live in an Air B&B like many others these days. The proof we provided to the library is the same exact proof we used to successfully and effortlessly enroll our kids in school with and she refused to accept it. We had no issues with the Same Air B&B documents on the other side of town at Windmill and Rainbow to get a card. We are being punished for the poor area, and this is a free resource paid for by our taxes since we work. Shame on Sharonda and whoever trained this lady to make up rules as she feels fit, and discriminate at leisure. There is no other library anywhere near the Stratosphere where we stay so we are forced to come here with homeless people everywhere inside and out, plus rude...
