Review of Awakening at the Wynn Las Vegas Awakening at the Wynn is a visually breathtaking spectacle that promises to redefine the live theater experience in Las Vegas. From the moment you step into the custom-built, 360-degree theater, you know you're in for something truly unique. The show is a feast for the senses, driven by cutting-edge technology, stunning costumes, and a dynamic cast. The Spectacle: A Visual Masterpiece The absolute star of Awakening is the stage itself. The circular, glass stage is a technological marvel that rotates, splits apart, and rises and falls, creating ever-changing landscapes and a sense of constant motion. It’s an immersive experience where there truly isn't a bad seat in the house, as the action unfolds all around you. The use of LED screens embedded within the stage and the vibrant lighting effects are truly phenomenal, transforming the space into a series of mystical realms, from a serene water world to a fiery, high-energy party. The show's production is top-notch, featuring incredible animatronics and grand-scale puppetry that are both awe-inspiring and whimsical. The giant whale that appears to swim through the air is a particularly memorable moment that has become a favorite among audiences. The costumes are intricate and imaginative, adding to the show's fantastical atmosphere. The choreography is high-energy, with a talented cast of dancers and acrobats who bring the stage to life with their graceful and powerful movements. The Story: A Beautiful but Elusive Narrative The show follows a loose narrative about a reluctant heroine named IO, who embarks on a quest to reunite Light and Darkness to save the world. While the story provides a framework for the visual spectacle, it's not the main attraction. Some audiences may find the plot a bit abstract or difficult to follow, as it takes a backseat to the visual and auditory experience. The dialogue, narrated by the legendary voice of Anthony Hopkins, can sometimes feel a bit dwarfed by the sheer scale of the production. However, the lack of a deep, emotional narrative isn't necessarily a bad thing. Like many successful Vegas shows, Awakening is about sensory overload and pure entertainment. It's a modern myth that uses its story as a vehicle to transport the audience to another world, rather than to tug at their heartstrings. The Score: A Powerful Sonic Journey The original musical score by Emmy-nominated composer Brian Tyler is a massive component of the show's success. The sound design is a high-tech marvel, with speakers at every one of the 1,600 seats, creating an immersive, surround-sound experience. The music is a blend of cinematic, tribal, and electronic elements that perfectly complements the action on stage. Final Verdict Awakening at the Wynn is a must-see for anyone who loves high-tech, visually stunning shows. It is a show that succeeds on its own ambitious terms, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in a live production. While it may not have the emotional depth of a more traditional theater piece, it more than makes up for it with its jaw-dropping special effects, impressive cast, and a stage that is a work of art in itself. If you're looking for a show that will leave you in a state of awe and wonder, Awakening is the perfect choice for your...

"Awakening," the show that inhabits this purpose-built, immaculate theater, is not just a performance; it's a platinum-grade experience, a fantastical journey that resonates deep within the heart.
The setting itself is a marvel. Imagine a theater so meticulously crafted that every seat feels like a personal invitation into a world of wonder. The circular design ensures an intimate connection with the stage, making the distance between fantasy and reality almost imperceptible. Before the curtain rises, the indulgence begins with an array of delectable snacks and cocktails, heightening the senses in anticipation of the spectacle to come.
"Awakening" is a symphony of artistic excellence. The actors, the stage, the music, the lighting, and the special effects coalesce into a seamless narrative that captivates from the first breath to the final bow. The show’s brilliance lies in its ability to weave these elements into a tapestry that is both enchanting and emotionally resonant.
The characters of Bandit and Boo are the show’s delightful jesters, their comedic interludes perfectly timed to infuse levity into this intense journey. Their acrobatic antics and infectious humor are a testament to the show's ability to balance drama with laughter, ensuring that the audience is always engaged, always a part of this vibrant world.
The star of the show, IO, is nothing short of mesmerizing. Her quest to find the crystals is not just a story being told; it's an odyssey being lived. Each emotion, each struggle, and each triumph is felt deeply, as if the audience were her silent companions on this epic journey. IO's performance is a masterclass in storytelling, her presence on stage both commanding and endearing.
Unlike many Las Vegas spectacles where acrobatics and drama often overshadow the narrative, "Awakening" finds a rare equilibrium. The acrobatics enhance the tale, the music amplifies the emotions, and the drama unfolds with a natural grace. This balance keeps the audience rapt, immersed in a world where every element serves the story.
At a crisp 80 minutes, the show is a testament to the adage 'less is more'. It’s the perfect length to maintain an electrifying energy without a hint of weariness. The value of "Awakening" lies not just in its stunning stage or the caliber of its performance, but in its ability to transport you to a realm of dreams, a realm so vivid, so tangible, that you carry a piece of it with you long after the curtain falls.
As I left the theater, the promise of returning to this magical world on my next visit to Las Vegas was not just a thought, but a necessity. "Awakening" is more than a show; it's an experience that awakens the soul, leaving you yearning for more. In a city known for its illusions, "Awakening" is a dazzling...
Read moreWhen you come to Vegas, you have got to see this show! Located at the Wynn Hotel on the strip, Awakening is an incredible display of dance, lighting, art, and unity! Even within a few minutes, you are taken away into a whole new world of color and dance. Each scene is carefully choreographed with beautifully intricate dances paired with amazing music and lighting. The Awakening is so much more than just a show but is like a musical combined with a play combined with a show! Each dancing scene is so incredible that you’ll have trouble keeping track of all of the moves, that combined with moving stage which can split apart, rise and lower itself, it creates lots of incredible dance sequences. And each dancer works their hardest on stage, whether it be the main cast or background dancers. One special moment was with the trapeze artists who spin and fly around the theater at unhuman-like speed, precision, and elegance. And the talent of the dancers is further enhanced by the incredible set that they’re on. As the story travels through various elemental worlds, the set is changed to match the environmental theme and it is done so beautifully. One example is in the underwater world where they have this massive whale flying around the entire theater for all to see and makes you feel like you’re underwater with it. Another one is what appears to be a bundle of rocks and branches turns into an amazing moving giant in the Earth world. For the Awakening, they don’t hold back on bringing this fantasy world of theirs to real life. Keeping with the fantasy show, there are various magic tricks throughout the show that are very astounding and impressive. Some include people disappearing from one place and reappearing at another, impossible body switches, and a person materializing right in the middle of the theater. The Awakening does a great job of bringing magic to life through out its show that really make it something special and will leave you second guessing what you just saw and believe. While the plot maybe something simple like it was pulled out of a children’s cartoon, the Awakening is still something special and a great show to watch during your trip in Vegas. It is a bright, amazing spectacle that combines dance and music so well with fantasy and storytelling. So I highly recommend that you watch this...
