Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition — Attraction in Paradise

Last year I was able to visit the other permanent Titanic exhibition in Orlando so on a recent short visit to Vegas I wanted to satisfy my curiosity as to how this West Coast version compared. Overall, both exhibits are excellent and will be well-enjoyed by anyone with even the slightest interest in the ship and its story but I have to give the slight edge to the Orlando one.

Thanks to being in its own building and not crammed beside other attractions in a casino the Orlando version had more artifacts from the ship or related to it on display including a full-size recreation of one of the ship's propellers. The Vegas exhibit does have several displays that are unique to it as well though like a case showing money recovered from the wreck and some perfume vials that were brought up and still had some scent left in them.

While both exhibits have recreations of the Grand Staircase, a first class suite, and part of the outer promenade, the larger space of the Orlando building means room for more parts of the ship to be duplicated like the bridge and a part of the cargo hold. The gallery listing passengers and crew is also more stunning in Orlando with the names etched on panes of glass rather than just printed on a board.

Another downside to the Vegas exhibit is the higher cost of 40ish dollars versus 30ish for Orlando (even before adding parking which is free in Orlando but not at the Luxor). For the same price as basic admission in Vegas you can opt for a guided tour in Orlando which greatly enhances your experience with the information shared. Vegas also doesn't seem to have any of the excellent reenactors that Orlando has who act out the part of various passengers and crew in person and interact with guests. Instead there were monitors scattered about the Vegas exhibit showing video snippets of reenactors rather than live ones.

While all of that might make it sound like the Vegas Titanic exhibit isn't worth visiting if you've already been to the one in Orlando there's one huge reason to double dip: the Big Piece. In 1998 a large section of the ship's hull was recovered from the wreck site that was divided into a larger piece and a smaller one extending down. Both pieces were preserved and the smaller one put on display in Orlando while the much larger "Big Piece" went to Vegas eventually as its permanent site. At 20 feet tall and 26 feet wide it's a very imposing and eerie sight to see, far more awe-inspiring than the piece in Orland that's only about a fifth its size. It's a very fitting and poignant ending to the exhibit just before you exit into the gift shop.

On its own, I would have given the Vegas Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition five stars - it's only the better overall presentation of its sister in Orlando and its higher price that dragged down my rating to four. Still well worth a visit though and a...

This place is exceptional. I visited the Titanic museum in Belfast not long before, and I thought I should visit this one to compare, as the one in Belfast was a huge disappointment. So this review is going to be based on comparison with the Belfast one. First was the price, cheaper than the Belfast one, but here you can go at anytime you wish on the day you booked. In Belfast you have to be there at a certain time. The museum staff was very friendly, they give you a short briefing about taking pictures and all that. The girls must have had repeated that briefing a thousand times before she gave it to me that day, but she was very clear and she had a genuine smile on her face for the whole briefing. In Belfast…we’ll, there was a few nice members of the staff but a couple of grumpy ones made the experience negative with their yelling and eyes rolling and facial expressions and body language that was totally unwelcoming. The museum is amazing, I really have no words, it really immerse you in the experience like if you were on the ship. You see exact replicas of the cabins, the dec, the staircase ( and what an amazing setting the staircase is). Everything is so well explained and easy to follow, even if the room is busy you still can check the displays and read the explanations. Then you go to the part of the shipwreck, and this is amazingly fantastic, get ready to enjoy the experience, it really feels like if you are underwater right in front of the wreckage. And then, when you think it can’t get better…the big piece. I have no words to describe how impressive it was. That is as close as you can get to the Titanic and to the night of the disaster. The big piece is displayed in a way that makes you feel like if you are in front of the most amazing piece of art or architecture or history you can ever see. Then in the gift shop you can find the most original memorabilia at good prices. To finish, I highly recommend to visit it, even I will go back to enjoy it again. I do give the exhibition a full 5 stars but only giveing it a 1 star due to my experience with one of the staff members

After years of waiting I finally got to visit it this on April 16th 2025 when I was in las Vegas. I was enjoying the exhibition in till I got to the the grand staircase I ask the young women extremely nicely who was working on that part on the exhibition. is it ok to take some pics of the item on the wall and In The display cases And she replied yes it ok but non of the staircase or of the glass dome as it stated on a sign going in to that part of the exhibition so I replied ok no problem Everything was going ok until she just started shouting abuse at me accusing me of filming my reply was IM not then when I was around the right hand side of the staircase by the exit of that room I was looking at the display case with artifacts in it and she starts shouting abuse at me again trying to claim I was filming again and trying to get pictures of the glass dome with my reply being yet again I'm not film I'm just taking pictures of the artifacts like you told me I could Then she called in two other people one to take over from her and the other to try and kick me out of the exhibition I told him what I was being accused of and show him my phone camera history and trash bin with not one video or photo of the glass dome I was being accused of filming and taking in the end she was told to apologise to me and she would not I was allowed to stay to enjoy the rest of the exhibition but because of what she did I couldn't and being a big titanic fan and studying the ship the history of titanic I could not enjoy the rest of the exhibition that I wait year and year to see. I did ask for a refund or some sort compensation because of what this woman did but I was refused. Witch is a shame as I will be back in las Vegas in April 2026.
