I know this is a long review but it's worth taking the time to read if you are a seasoned RVer...
I was purchasing my fourth 5th wheel and always purchased from the BIG dealerships. But if you are a seasoned RVer you know the biggest headache wasn't the purchasing process but the warranty work!. You could set-up your warranty work 3 months in advance and the day you scheduled you would turn it in. But your RV wasn't looked at that day, it would sit for months before they even look at it. Then you would have to wait another months or more to wait for the parts to arrive. In the end, you were always without your unit for 4/6 months if you were lucky.
With that said, I decided to expand my area to what dealership I would choose and "price' wouldn't be the only factor who I purchased from. Very Close from #1 from price would be service center. So after visiting about 6 dealership and contacting another 10 via e-mail I chose Sky River.
The reason I picked Sky River RV in Pismo was because the answer I received from them. They stated "we aren't as big as the Big Boys dealers to were you're just a number and you get lost with all the other customers. But were not too small were we don't have enough resources to give you what you deserve". Plus, the stated that "when you schedule to turn in your RV that same day or the next morning they start working on your RV NOT weeks or months later". In my mind I was SOLD but had to play it off cool.
Not only did they live up to that, they also matched or came within 200 dollars of the best price. Even if they were within 500 dollars of the last two other dealers I was dealing with I would of still gone with them just for the fact they statement they stated with their service center. But I didn't tell them that.
I have tested them on their word twice with warranty work in the service center. On both occasions they have Delivered with flying colors. First visit was because Montana had mislabeled the black and grey tank and they figured that out same day. Plus, they found my black tank sprayer had a kinked line and repaired that too. They had montana on the phone and have both issued approved and fixed by end of the day. Did I mentioned I live 4 hrs away and they saved me from paying for a room.
Second time I tested them was when my auto leveling systems broke. The center leg on the left side wasn't working and I contacted the manufacture. The manufacturer stated it was broken and needed to be replaced. They stated to take it to my dealership where I purchased it and they would have to do warranty work on it but stated it would take months for that. So I contacted Sky River and they opened a wo for the warranty work and contacted Montana. Two weeks later they contacted me and I had the trailer to them 3 days later and within 2 hrs of arriving they had replaced my landing gear and fixed another warranty issue and had my back on the road.
So I want to thank JOSH who is the manager in the service center you run a well oiled shop. NICK the day I picked up my 5th wheel, the PDI was first rate customer service and you were very knowledgeable with every questioned I asked. Jeanette and Amy thank for always contacting me scheduling my 5th wheel. Well organized with no chaos...EVERYONE in the Service Center you have delivered what was promised to me and actually you have gone well above what I expected...THANK YOU...
While I'm taking the time to thank the service center I can't forget Tom/Mark for the non-pressure sales tactics. It was a welcomed change...Dan the finance guru, I was waiting for surprises of additional costs or bs BUT you were straight forward from beginning to the end. Kyle and Tag, thank you for always answering my questions in the store and warm welcomes/goodbyes....
I hope this helps...Stay away from the Camping Worlds and all the other big boys and give the smaller dealerships a chance because I'm...
Read moreI purchased my 2006 Winnebago Adventurer in 2023, had a very knowledgeable salesman-Ken. He wasnât a big pressure guy, very laid back, easy to talk to and walked me thru several models. He was very kind. I needed a rig I could live in but nothing âFancyâ, and the Adventurer was a HUGE Rig, but it seemed like it was fine. BIG MISTAKE! Know what youâre getting into when you purchase an âAS ISâ vehicle.
This all happened before the first year of ownership: Bad Battery- which they came and replaced- And I did say âThank youâ for that. But the list continues: *leak above the banquette in the cabinet(due to sealant needing to be completely redone) if it was inspected throughly, prior to sale, it would have been caught. But they elected to let it go. *Vinyl in the bedroom coming undone. Roof needing repairs- which I was told, âpoint blankâ, it was in good condition- it was not, in several places. And needing resurfacing(new fiberglass) and caulking done around the vents. I hired someone to do this! *The awning not opening, and when the pop-out was being opened, it was tearing the awning bc the locking mechanism wasnât unlocking - unbeknownst to me, bc I couldnât see it. This wasnât discovered while they were putting my new tires on. I asked the one guy looking at the leak area and the vinyl to check the roof for me. Hence, my surprise, when he took pictures of it to include in the Estimate Invoice.
Total cost for these repairs by SkyRiver: $3500- not including the awning.
I HIRED a mechanic to reseal the area that had worn out on the drivers side. Again, if there had been a more thorough and diligent inspection, this would have certainly been found, before it was put up for sale. But this is where the Buyer gets KICKED in the BUTT! However, Consumer Protection Law states ALL areas that are considered âdeficitsâ must be conveyed to the Consumer prior to purchase- this was not the case. Not one piece of information was given to me when I made the purchase. And I asked to see any and ALL recent maintenance invoices, which were never provided to me, and I asked AGAIN, when they were replacing my tires, still did not get anything. Was told theyâd hv to âlook it upâ, and they still didnât provide me with anything. Im not HAPPY with this investment, and the lack of thoroughness from SkyRiver. I wish Iâd never gone down this Rabbit Hole! And I was made to âfeel likeâ I was getting the DEAL OF A LIFE TIME! I would LOVE to GIVE IT BACK TO SKYRIVER AND BE...
Read moreWe found the perfect RV at Sky River, Pismo and was anxious to close the deal and start RVing!! Our great experience turned into a terrible nightmare that is still continuing a month after purchase. We returned to pick up RV after the coach was gone through to make sure all was in working order. Door to the bathroom would not slide, a fuse was out in light and the rear auto jack would not retract, no batteries in smoke alarm and exterior paint was not touched up. Also we were told they wwould fill the propane tank. That didn't happen. We drove 120 miles to pick it up and they apparently didn't do a thing. We were talked into items like the Trident pkg. at a whopping $1695. Was told by service manager the coach would be detailed thoroughly before Trident applied, however carpets and vinyl were filthy. Bottoms of my bare feet were black on our maiden trip. Talked into Gap insurance and their warranty totaling $7200.00. We were told these items could be cancelled at any time, which I did request. Financing told me my principle balance would be reduced by $7200. I received my first bill and not to my surprise, Sky River was funded from the bank the total amount but Sky River never cut a check back to the bank so that the $7200 would be credited to my account. Also, I was told by the RV manager that I would receive $300 back towards the Trident package that I was told I could not cancel. Never have received the $300. I do not believe the check is in the mail. BEWARE they are all for the sale and fail terribly at customer service, financing and service. I should have walked away, no RUN. Better yet, DO NOT STEP FOOT INTO SKY RIVER RV OR ANY OF THEIR LOCATIONS. UPDATE 8 days after I was promised a check would be cut to the bank and my principle balance would be reduced. STILL HAS NOT HAPPENED. Also an executed due bill in the amount of $300 back to me signed on May 14 has not been received as of June 18th. Oh by the way the due bill is void as of May 25. Time to call my attorney. NOT SO...
