While the incline itself is definitely worth the experience, there were definitely a few things that made it more of a hassle. First things first, the fact that the parking area didn’t offer hourly prices which the ride itself could be done in less than an hour most of the time. Prepare to pay $10 unless you’re willing to walk 10-15 minutes for free of cheaper parking. We also had a stroller which I would say, isn’t the most accessible if you rely on ramps. I didn’t see any elevators or I may have missed it but from our experience there wasn’t which meant extra baggage for us. Maybe the last problem was the cash only purchases for tickets. I understand it’s more historically grounded which I don’t have too much of an issue with but I can see how it may provide some people with modern day barriers. The view and experience itself was breath talking. Definitely lasted a lot quicker only because everyone were enjoying themselves. I also find that only one side of the cart gets a good view while other seating areas may lack. Overall it was fun for the family and recommend tourists to check it out, but I’d also warn them on the niche challenges it may provide. I can easily see some people to turn away from this...
Read moreVisiting the Duquesne Incline in Pittsburgh offers a unique blend of history and breathtaking views. The ride up the steep hillside provides a stunning panorama of the city skyline and the confluence of the rivers 🤙 I have not seen something built in 1877 and still working (Ofcourse needed some kind of maintenance), the incline has been preserved as a historic landmark. The ride is both a functional mode of transportation and a popular tourist attraction. At the top, visitors can explore the observation deck and take in the views. The accompanying museum provides insights into the incline’s history and engineering. I loved all old pictures showing timelines of Pittsburgh progress. Loved this place and keep going wherever any guest comes to...
Read moreWhat a dump of an expensive parking lot -- it's fun to park down here when I have a visitor, take the incline up, maybe get dinner, then come down. But, the price and quality of this lot are at odds. I paid $13 for 3 hours here to park in a gravel lot with very few other cars. They used to have a staircase that went directly to the incline, but now you have to walk way around and walk along the busy carson street. Then, and this is really the kicker, you get up to Mt. Washington, and you immediately see Altius (the most expensive place up there) has $9 valet parking LOL. I'm sure whoever owns this lot doesn't care at all, but it's a real shame for Pittsburgh that they charge so much and don't even take...
