I have been a manager for over 20 years and have never been so appalled by service in my life. We took our 76 year old grandmother to the Pirates game which we do every year and this year we decide to walk over to Burgatory. Started out fine, walked in, got a table for 6 pretty much right away and the tables didn't line up, were wobbly and were directly in the center of the room but it was fine, we dealt with it. Our service was mediocre considering they weren't very busy, had to ask for lemons 3 times and she took forever to come back to us, still fine we understand how difficult waitressing can be. I had to explain the paper order sheet to my Grandmother since she has never been there before and gets confused at times. The pencils don't have erasers so when she accidentally selected the wrong cheese with had to cross it out. Her squares were bubbled in and we drew a large line through the cheese she didn't want. Waitress looked at it and didn't say a thing, then the food came and had only one slice of white cheese on it. It wasn't until the bill came we realized she was charged for both cheeses, just a $1 each. We weren't going to say anything over a $1 but my grandma mentioned it, just so she could tip the waitress that extra $1. After explaining it to the waitress, the manager came over to explain both cheeses were marked and she would have to pay for both. I explained to the manager that she was elderly, confused and crossed out the one she didn't want to which he replied "this is food service industry, you pay for what you get" and rudely walked off. Over $1, I have never seen a manager be rude and deny fixing an issue over $1. Nevertheless, we didn't say anymore and walked out only to turn around and realized our grandmother was inside trying to show the manager at the front counter her burger with one slice of cheese on it. When I walked back in, she was walking away upset when the manager said "their racism is showing." Which is absolutely disgusting that he would bring race into this at all. I can appreciate that out waitress was African American and we are a Caucasian family but that does not automatically make us racist because we didn't like something and our "issue" was not with the waitress but with the Caucasian male manager. We were in your restaurant from 415p to 550p today. I am sure your cameras can verify the experience that will undoubtedly cost you more than that $1 slice of cheese. The food and milkshakes were delicious, but not worth this poor...

Read moreDate of visit Sat June 24th After a day of exploring Pittsburgh along the waterfront in the North Shore neighbourhood, we found ourselves looking for a nice lunch. In the area along North Shore Road, there were numerous dining options. We chose Burgatory not knowing it was a local small chain restaurant. Usually we try to avoid chain restaurants and opt for smaller independent eateries instead. The menu was fairly extensive – with a lot of great options. To order burgers – they provide you with an ordering pad where you can choose all the toppings, bun choice, burger options, cheese choices etc. There are a LOT of options to choose from and there is something for everyone. Vegetarians and vegans will definitely get a great meal here as well as gluten free, etc.
The Meals are presented beautifully. The food is amazing. The flavours are spectacular. If you order a milk shake – some of the options are pretty over the top. They offer the milkshakes in boozy options as well as booze free. We took our milkshakes to go to enjoy as we continued to walk through the city. I had the Key Lime milkshake and others had birthday cake, salted caramel etc. They were a great milkshake and lasted for many blocks as we continued to walk.
The waitress was very pleasant, friendly, helpful and patient. The prices were not bad – very reasonable.
This is a great burger place and roguetrippers highly...
