Vanity Salon — Attraction in Plymouth

Charles came highly recommended by a friend of mine who suggested Vanity Salon to me. Let me just say that the entire experience from start to finish was superb. The first time with a new hairdresser is usually stressful and you tend to sit on pins & needles, but none of that happened with Charles. He was insightful, understanding, and patient when we discussed where my hair had been and in what direction we would be going with it. The shampoo was relaxing and he really took his time. You had the confidence that he really knows what he is doing from start to finish. He asks the right questions, and went over every inch of my head as he familiarized himself with head shape and hair growth patterns. Afterward, I felt like a new woman when I looked in the mirror. I walked out of there feeling great, sporting red carpet hair. I have to say that Charles is perfection. A non-intimidating atmosphere, a well run business and stylists that leave you looking better than when you came in: the whole purpose of finding a great salon is feeling comfortable with your stylist. Let me just say that I will be going back to Charles (as I have been since 2003), and I would highly recommend Vanity Salon to any of my friends. I chose this salon based on the high ratings. The reception staff was extremely kind and helpful, and the facilities are welcoming and designed well. However, the reason for my visit was a haircut. I'm very disappointed with how it turned out after I gave clear instructions on what I wanted. I asked for thinning out and some texture, and what I got was a blunt cut with a single added layer. The sideswept bangs were so long that they curled into my eyes, and even before I could comment on their length, I was told "if they're not long, they're just bangs". I had to trim an inch off of them myself just to see. My stylist wasn't rude or anything, just not as skilled as I would expect for this salon or price point. Had a horrible experience with Mikayla(Mik), I went for a hair cut. it all started on wrong foot, I put my head in the bowl to wash my hair she sprays water all over my face, was super rough washing, yanked my cartilage earring. I mention to her that please be mindful of that, she says "now that I know I will be carful". Cut was not what I was expecting, She was man handling my hair, after all that pulling, toughing, upside down hair drying she mush have yanked on my cartilage earring and the earring flung off somewhere that was a GOLD hoop. Blow-dry stopped working, my hair was not looking like I came out of the salon.
