Bo Jon's Surf & Gifts — Attraction in Port Aransas

We went into this store with our kids and the two ladies working in the store followed us around everywhere. They acted like we were doing something suspicious. It was extremely uncomfortable. We were literally just in the toy section letting the kids pickup little things as we finished our vacation. Both women were extremely rude in the way they spoke to us and our children. They asked to see our ID for our card purchase (which we were thankful for!) and when our nephew asked why, the worker replied, “just in case you are using a stolen card.” Really?! There are other ways to explain this to a child! A simple, just to confirm you are the cardholder and it belongs to you, would suffice for a child’s understanding. Shady business! Sounds like they’ve had some major shoplifting issues or fraud claims, but don’t make all your customers feel like thieves when we were just a family coming in to spend a ridiculous amount of money on cheap items for our kids. The clothes are adorable and fairly priced. I got a gorgeous dress, $25 awesome fancy flat heeled shoes, we got an awesome hat and what have you. The ladies working Friday afternoon.. a lady with short hair and another lady with really long brown hair were wonderful!! Great sense of humor, helpful, understanding, and just the kind of people that bring in business. Knocked two stars due to the two older ladies working this Saturday at 12 noon (for owners reference) who were rude enough to inspire writing a review. We really enjoyed the store. The selection of items was great and a nice change from the usual beach store. Unfortunately, I was singled out by the middle aged cashier to show my ID to make sure it matched my debit card. My purchase totaled $9.98. I have never been asked to show my ID on any purchases from any store previous to this. As I scrolled down your reviews I saw that this was a common practice for this shop. I also felt that we were being watched closely as well. In the future I will not return to this store or recommend it...
