At Nature's Door — Attraction in Portage

Really? A health food store this dirty and unattractive? Outside, the parking lot is full of weeds and needs to be resurfaced, the building needs painting, and the glass door going in was very dirty, as was the inside "foyer". Inside, there's heavy stains on the old carpeting, the walls are smudged, scuffed, needing to be painted badly. The whole place, inside and out, looks dirty, old, dilapidated. Prices were very high and there was nothing fresh in the refrigerated sections. The women seem nice, but were too busy talking with each other to ask if I needed help finding anything or was looking for anything. (I had actually gone in looking for organic tortillas and veggies, which they didn't have and never carry, I was told. But no one asked.) I bought some organic cookies for the kids and a bottle of overpriced organic Veggie juice. The women thought it was funny that I'd brought a reusable Aldi's bag. It's not funny at all because they lost a potential customer and I'll go back to Aldi's for my organic produce, eggs, bread, etc. This place is evidently a vitamin store that carries some frozen and refrigerated stuff on the side. I give it one star because there's no reason for a health food store (let alone any store that would be concerned with cleanliness and sells food) to...

Wow, wow, wow!!!! Was I ever surprised at the inventory and how well everything was organized! Free parking right outdoor, easy entry. There were aisles of specialty vitamins and supplements. They also had a bread freezer and refrigerated section. They stock so many herbal teas. They have a fresh honey dispenser and grind your peanut butter right there! They offer a variety of healthy snack options, and delicious dairy free ice cream products. The ice cream cones are better than the dairy ones! I purchased handmade earrings made by the indigenous women of South America crafted from sustainable materials. I purchased Mushroom Complete vegcaps, Jolly Llama vanilla sandwiches, and their vanilla fudge cones, yummy! I also bought a couple bags of avocado oil lime ranch kettle chips for snacks. Tom was so pleasant and fun to do business with. I definitely plan to shop here...

I forgot to pack some things that I normally take in our camper on trips. The things I use to clean or for personal products I usually have to order online or purchase at a local shop that sells supplements and natural products back home. The lady who works here was able to show me a really great sunblock that is safer to use than what you would find at super stores. They also carried the same aloe that I normally buy.
