From the day the city turns on Salmon Street Springs Fountain until the day they turn it off at the end of the season, this fountain is an entertaining and fun spot for everyone. Kids run around in it giggling and playing, parents make their kids giggle by going in themselves too. The fountain cycles through configurations so you can always wait then jump in. I like to start by walking around the circle until I build my nerve, but not the kids, they just go for it. A month ago a yellow lab discovered the joy, he was rolling around in it to the delight of his owner. The water blasts you pretty good so wear ear plugs and goggles if you prefer. Just watching this fountain is a wonderful way to spend some time. You even get rainbows when the sun angle is right, especially with the fine mist cycle. It's a fantastic place for selfies by yourself or with your kids or partner; experiment with selfies on either side and at dawn or late afternoon. When summer's at its peak this is the Place to Be. You're next to Kerr Bicycles so you can finish your ride with selfies and a splash. You're also at the boarding point for the Portland Spirit- do a Brunch, then chill after your cruise by watching everyone around the fountain, or stroll the Hawthorne Bridge-Steel Bridge esplanade loop, then come back here and jump in. I'm looking forward to...

When we got here, the water didn't look like how it was on the other pictures but it was still fine. There were kids playing in the water when it was hot outside. The main attraction is of course the water fountain but you also get a nice view of the river as well. There not a lot of bench here and also not a lot of...
Read moreFountains? I've seen a bunch of fountains. If Google wants me to review one, well, I'm your guy.
The Salmon Street Springs is not a spring, and is not on Salmon Street, so we're off to a bad start. You'll find it off Naito Parkway. The fountain has a plethora of jets, so you have lots of water flowing for you to look at, enjoy, and cool off in. It is as cold as you would expect, so cooling off will not be a problem. And you have a nice view of the Willamette, so you can pretend you are swimming without becoming all radioactive. So win-win!
Of all the fountains I've seen, and it's a bunch folks, this is definitely one if...
