Candy4pennies — Attraction in Providence

I needed a specific kind of candy for a decorative part of a project and decided to call this place. I didn't feel like driving around the city to try and find it, and being very close to Valentine's Day made it harder to get exactly what I needed.

And guess what? Candy4pennies had it! Along with a couple of other options that I did not think about.

When I walked up to the store, I was impressed by the number of baskets wrapped and ready for delivery. This store is on top of their game.

And the candy selection is well organized in-store. There are few places that have the old-fashioned "store clerk," but this place has a woman who knows her stuff, and can recommend other options or candy.

It was really cool to see an operation like that, where it "harkens back to the old days" with one shop owner knowing all of the product.

As the cashier explained to me, they have only 1 item that is 3cents a piece, and it's prebagged. Everything else in the store is 3/$1 and up. The most expensive item in our basket was a single bottle pop for $2.50.

We spent several minutes thoroughly looking and picking out items. We were disappointed when it came time to pay and we were told they don't take cards and have no options or knowledge of any nearby ATMs.

I asked if they had any signs up, or why we were not given this information at the beginning, as we came in, and were met with silence.

I wanted to stay longer and take more photos and video because it was our first time there and we were all so happy to come, but I was just embarassed at the end and how we were just ignored cause I had no cash, and I just wanted...

Who I spoke to today was VERY RUDE, when I walked in I was told I can grab a basket and pick out the candy I liked, as soon as I grabbed a candy someone comes yelling down the stairs that this is “providence” and that I’m not able to pick my candy on my own after I was told to do so, I know she assumed I was going to steal since I had a hooded zip up sweater on, if I was told kindly not to do so I wouldn’t mind but it’s not what you say to people it’s HOW you say it, I’m glad I left my daughter at home cause this is not a place where I would bring my child because of how rude they are!
