Really extensive and informative museum. I love how the museum shows you the history of race relations through the eyes of children. I love how far we’ve come. I love the hope to grow even more in love and community. I also learned that we used to have dolls made with Cellulite. 😂 It was $15 to tour, and the docents were incredibly helpful (as you can here in my video). It is on the third floor and there is plenty of parking and elevators or escalators. Fully accessible. They’ve only been open for three weeks, so I know it will get busier, but I was grateful for the quiet to take my time and read. There are QR codes for more info as well.

What a gem. Walk down memory lane or learn about our storied history and connection to the African Diaspora and the rest of world through dolls.

My boyfriend and I accidentally stumbled on the Black Doll Museum tonight on the third floor of Emerald Mall. They had a glorious Christmas display with a place to meet Santa, and I think Barbie too! And numerous wonderful Black Santa dolls and hundreds of black Barbie dolls. The woman who greeted us was so welcoming and friendly. It was late so we didn't want to keep her, but this is definitely something you don't want to miss this Christmas Season for their special holiday display, or after Christmas for whatever they do next! I wish I thought to take a picture, but it was late! I hope a lot of kids get to experience this! It is just so fun and colorful and it is just moving to see so many dolls in one place, especially Black dolls! Dolls have played such a significant role in making meaning in all of our lives, and you get a real sense of that here pretty instantly, as to why dolls are important, and why representation is so important! But also of what it means to celebrate being alive, and being human, as dolls are just our tiny mini-me's along for the ride with us! I hope a lot of kids, and adults get to experience this joyous display, and I will definitely see...
