I went to see Blade Runner for a 3 hour showing. The air in the theater was ICE cold. I kept trying to get into the movie and forget it but couldn't. I looked around me and everyone else who was in the know (I am new to the area), had on full size heavy coats with their hoods and gloves on! I had on a sweater and jeans and was absolutely shivering. The temps outside didn't even require a jacket so I didn't bring one.
I tried to withstand an hour in the dark freezing temps. I'm thinking it was about 60-62 degrees in the theater. I couldn't do it. Finally, I got up and left. Told the young concession kids about the temperature. They told me they couldn't do anything about it. I questioned further..."what do you mean? You aren't allowed to touch the thermostat? Then let me talk to a manager..." "No, they said....."they" won't change it. Everyone complains but the owner/managers won't fix it." They went on to say that the thermometers are way up high near the ceiling so they can't even get to them. The hot air rises and makes the thermometers think it's warm.....yada yada. (Sadly, if the owner reads this, he will likely chew out the young concessions kids for telling me that he won't fix it. That will likely be the outcome of this review, instead of fixing the problem. Sorry kids.....)
Amazing. I asked for my money back. I had paid for a luxury seat and had to pay a $1 at home on the website for the convenience fee. I didn't get that $1 back. I also didn't get the food prices back. I wouldn't have bought their nasty chips and cheese, but I hadn't eaten and had planned on a hot dog, but they ran out. Again. 2nd time I've attended and they didn't have hotdogs on the weekend. They don't even buy the big hot dogs that fill the bun. They buy the nasty tiny red-dyed hotdogs that you can't even see inside the bun. I'm seeing a cheap pattern going on here by the owner/managers....
Finally, you pay a premium for the Luxury seating. You shouldn't have the WORST seats in the house when you buy them. Once you stop reclining the seat to the place you want, you will never move it again. If you go too far and end up lying down....tough luck, you are stuck that way for the rest of the movie. You can push the button in the opposite direction all you want but it will only go one way....down further. And that's what everyone does. Once their seat goes too far down, they instinctively move the button in the opposite direction and are surprised that the seat continues DOWN further. Then, when it's time to leave, you have to crawl out of it like a bed because the seats can't raise themselves up. I even pull myself up and sit up so as to take the weight of my back off the seat back and that doesn't help. The seat can still only go down...... I have had this happen in several different theater rooms at Providence and in several different luxury seats. I also noticed that everyone else had to crawl "out of bed" at the end of the movie as well. Those in the know, move the seat back very little and stop. That way you aren't stuck in a lying down position.
Also, I have to echo what another reviewer said. You wait a REALLY long time for food here. The young concessionaires are not in a hurry at all. They move as slow as possible. They often don't want to pay for a separate ticket person so you have to buy your ticket and food at the same time. You will wait in line forever.
Poorly run theater, with a cheap owner who doesn't seem to care. I have reported the luxury seats as well, but nothing...
Read moreMy family and I are longtime customers and supporters of your theater... However, I'm changing my review! I'm very very disappointed in the Providence Megaplex theater and (Megaplex Corp)... We went to the opening of Staw Wars Phantom Menace... Myself and saon plus his friends all had our lightsabers to lightup at the start of the movie...just like we seen on line at other theaters... fans screaming and cheering for the start of the movie...However, Providence Megaplex theater "DOES NOT" allow you to have fun at a premiere like that?????!!!!!!???? They wouldn't let a young man wear his Stars Wars helmet, and they won't let you wear makeup???? I was going to paint my face like Darth Maul, I had per bought my ticket so I would have been pissed if I would have had to drive home to wash my face!!! Glad I only had to take my lightsaber to my car... Our movie was at 10:10 pm... so so sad they won't let people have fun and celebrate theater. They said they are a family theater, they won't even let little kids dress-up ???? Wong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong 😳... It just was so...
Read moreThe staff is great here, and I would recommend this venue if you plan on purchasing your tickets on-site almost purely for that reason alone. The multiple people I interacted with all seemed very happy and were both friendly and efficient. My dad and I saw a movie in seats H8 and H9 in auditorium 2. The screen was smaller and not as high of quality as other Megaplexes or theaters I usually go to, but it was only a slight distraction. The seating arrangement is a bit flatter than what I’m used to, so prime rows if you’re looking to not tilt your neck much would be a couple rows behind where we were at, like rows I-K. Row H did have the rail in front, though. It served as a nice foot rest. The seats tilt back a bit and are good enough for a 2 1/2 hour movie, though big people might feel they’re a bit narrow. The arm rests do fold up and down. Keep up the great attitude if you work here - I think the employee who helped us most is named Jessica. The Megaplex should recognize this outstanding staff if they don’t already and utilize them to the benefit of their whole chain....
